    Yeah, I like taking an hour for lunch when possible, and I like sleeping 8 full hours after having more than 2 to wind down, get or make dinner, and take care of any other business

    Had today off, and Friday I told Richmond I'd like to leave out 0800 at the earliest if at all possible on Tuesday, because Bama is in the natty tonight and that won't be over by midnight. They said no problem at all.

    Today I called in to see what we got for tomorrow, and they said "can you make it to [Pittsburgh area] with a Hill load by 0600?"

    Sorry, no. Any other day I'll make it work for Hill. But I cleared this in advance. I'm going to sleep after the game, instead of hitting the road before it's over.

    Got empty in Sisters yesterday morning. I was keeping an eye on Santiam Pass going back to I-5. Something told me I would be going that direction to reload. Thankfully it was clear with spots of ice and snow. My biggest issue was the near whiteout conditions I ran into about 75 miles from Burns Oregon. Thank God I stopped earlier to make a cup of coffee before I ran into that. It’s much better when it’s daylight running on a 2 lane road being guided by the reflectors to show you where the road is.

    Got my reload while getting empty, had to go up to Tacoma Washington to reload going to Newnan Georgia for Saturday. Couldn’t make the pickup before they closed so the planner said to get it in the morning. Cool, my nerves were shot so I got in a long break last night. Woke up this morning, grabbed a shower at the Loves in Chehalis, then got a message that my load cancelled. Thankfully I didn’t start my clock. About 40 minutes later my new load assignment came over the QC. Load at the same place but going to Charlotte NC for anytime Saturday to drop and hook. This whole load will be 3196 paid miles. Not too bad. Now if Wyoming can cooperate, it should make for a nice week.

    [Phone rings]
    Me: "Yo!"
    DM: "Your truck's ready."
    Me: <pause>
    Me: "Is it?"
    DM: "Yeah. Shop's finished with it."
    Me: "That's good, because I've been driving it all day. Ever since you called me this morning to give me a load assignment."

    He's got a cold, so I don't regard it as an indictment of anything in particular. But it was pretty funny. We both had a good laugh.
