Load Details on the Load Board

I totally agree and it’s a little bit of everything.

Some are using huge software systems that automatically post. Some want you to call. Some don’t care. And then some do care. It’s like anything, generally the smaller the operation or company, the more hands on the touch is.

As a carrier I appreciate the extra info and increased efficiency of some small details. Although helpful, you just have to bang out the calls anyway or you may miss a good load.

As a broker, maybe due to small size and experience as a carrier, I’ll almost always post some sort of info unless it’s a very general run of the mill load that is what it is.

Maybe someone from one of the big or mid size brokerages will chime in.

 

For my RGN Lowbed if they would just post up its a Cat 325 excavator or Terex ta35 rock truck or Volvo L120 h wheel loader i already know if i can move it and if i'm not sure i can look it up real easy before I call. while length, hight and width are great if its that kind of equipment it will save both of us phone time and if its going to need a crane to remove on a job site stop trying to hide it i'm going to charge extra because i know I'm going to pass that crane 2 hours from the job site doing 10 mph climbing a hill.

 

Some of it's folks using automatic processes.

Some of it is a lack of care.

For me- when I do it, I'm in a hurry, and I know that 60-70% of the carriers I talk to won't have read the details anyway.

The amount of times I've posted over-sized flatbed loads that a million dudes call on that don't do over-size is rather significant. I always try to do weights/dims as a bare minimum.

Am I the only one that won't even bother with a posting if it's only got an email address, and no phone?

 

No doubt about it. Bonus points if the poster has no idea what legal dimensions are, even if they actually have them.

I don't deal with truck postings that are email only. I wouldn't imagine you guys would want a broker's posted load with only an email. It makes it way harder to get a sense if things are on the up and up.

 

Heck even just saying what size tarp is needed would save us both a call. I carry 4 ft and smoke tarp. Put 8 ft tarp on the posting and and no need to hear from me.

 

Most of the time its just about being super busy and not having time to put every detail in the posting.

If I have a 2 pick 5 drop load and i post it as a 2n5 i get 0 calls on it. If i post it with minimal details - rate + pick/final drop - ill take about 10-20 calls before i get one to stick. My job to cover loads for the customer, so sometimes you gotta be a little slick when posting loads.

Same as when a carrier posts his truck on DAT as "going anywhere" but when i call they wont go to East coast or OH wont work... It is what it is i guess.
