Already did all of that years ago but how would that persuade me to believe that simply getting in and out of my truck a few times per day (even 50!) is "enough" exercise for a human being?
How has trucking effected your health?

Driving OTR has been great for my health. It’s a proven fact that diets high in McDonalds/Wendy’s/Subway/Pilot Pizza, and the occasional banana while sitting in a seat for 10 hours, are highly beneficial.
I’m sure glad I gave up that plant based diet and daily 3 to 8 mile runs. That was sure to take a toll sonner or later.bzinger, JoeyJunk and RedForeman Thank this. -
For me, after 20 years, it is at least 60lbs more than should be. The mental condition may change in the long term too. That is a neglected aspect of truckers' health. For instance, I was never checked for mental health but I sing a lot while I drive - and I think that I am good at it and also talk to myself a lot - there are some people who call me to chat but more often I'd rather not answer but keep singing or talking to myself.

Oh...I forgot to add that posting here 6258 times since April 12 2016 may be somewhat mental too....better get this under control. lol

IF one parks the FURTHEST DISTANCE from a Truck Stop (Main) Building Entrance.
Shipper/Receiver locations sometimes require/required a wee bit of distance Foot travel considering locations of Assigned Dock(s).
I don't recall ever being approached about a G.Q. Photo shoot or related.
>>I've NEVER had a day where I "got in/out of the truck a couple times", closer to 3/4 dozen.<<
[YMMV]
Health woes were only affected by:
wrong food (sugary bits)
smoking cigarettes
bad attitude
bad "actors"
lack of restful sleep
lack of sleep
too much Caffeine
too many cups of Coffee with STOKE added
Mountain Dew
No Doze
BC Powders
Pick Up/Delivery Times/Locations
Inhaling Fumes From Fuel locations
"other" inhaled Fumes
Recalcitrant Exercise Regimen
et se terra.
Since I quit OTR and soon after Local Routes, Most of the above have disappeared.
Well, anyways, so, yeah.Last edited: Jan 11, 2022

You can eat crap and have no exercise in any job, it is a choice. To blame your physical or mental condition on trucking is a bit of a cop out. I think the unhealthy truckers would be unhealthy in any profession. Eating healthy is easy in a truck, you just have to want to. I stop at a Walmart once a week and put food in my truck that I want to eat, anyone can do that. Anyone can also eat Fly/J hot counter food all the time, it is a choice. As for the mental strain, again, we are all different and handle it differently and it is not the fault of trucking. I know people that stress out over the smallest thing because they are wired that way.
