If you get a fuel can you need to have the DOT approved fuel can which is very expensive. Especially if you're planning on carrying the fuel in your side box or carrying fuel in that container. Yes, it does have to be the actual metal DOT approved fuel can with I think they call it a flame arrestor inside of it and the whole thing.
I have a plastic fuel can it is strapped to my generator but I do not carry any fuel whatsoever. That can is only just in case I couldn't pull the truck in to fuel the generator or whatever but I absolutely do not carry any fuel. It must be that DOT approved fuel can if you are transporting any fuel.
And even with the plastic can I don't know if they can give me a hard time that the can is empty. Someone had said to me if they smell any Vapors or any of that that you can have a problem. -
If you run a generator on your catwalk, you also need to hook up an exhaust stack so you don't kill your neighbors.
That is 1" high-temp silicone hose connected to 3/4" electrical conduit which is hose clamped to the truck's exhaust stack. All generator exhaust exits above the cab.JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut, ProfessionalNoticer and 3 others Thank this. -
I made mine out of 1" flex pipe.

Anyone ever plumbed the exhaust into one of the truck stacks? Wonder if that would work?
