Yah Liberty Line Haul used to be a good outfit back then, also Manitoulin and McNamara carried respect. I remember companies still cared to keep their reputation up, and there was a threshold they didn't cross to maximize profits. Yah the 90's were still a decent time, miss those days, rates were I think around .36cpm for company driver, and diesel was .50 cents/L. Big Macs were on sale Wednesdays for .99 cents. It was just a much better time.

I was driving for Schneider for many years. An extremely modern company, everything was done on the tablet, no human contact involved. I didn't talk to my dispatch for weeks. Setting my Next available time was giving me the option to have a longer break or just work constantly. The next work assignment was always there as you provided the clock on the tablet. The problem on the road and the app on the tablet were setting everything for you, same as never touching the pump numbers and scale ticket emailed, paid, and send to the truck. Schneider parking and shops were in the many US States with cafeterias and very clean showers, gyms, and food bars. Trucks were at 66 mph, I was getting 54 cents per mile and 3000 thousand miles per 7 days, with electronic logbook my record 3600 in 7 days, with old electronic logbook record 4000. The plan to shut down Canadian operations was analyzed for a long time
I think. The tax system on both sites becomes more complicated, it's an American company with Indiana plates in Ontario, border crossing, market, training, and search for drivers with the ability to cross the border makes too much effort.US is a big market same taxing law and Schneider acquired large trucking company MLS. By the way, this is my opinion I can be wrong, it's a sad moment for me

Those days could be coming to an end Kriska bought Transport N last year . i know they bought a whole bunch of trailers for round the lake that has all black trucks and trailers and the new ones are white now with their logo . i wouldn’t be surprised if transport N just gets regular plain jane mega carrier new equipment in the future

    .

I would probably still be at schneider if they hadn’t gave up on the Loblaws account or had more local any work .I was there from 2008-june 2011 , i liked working there no one brothered me .I just went to work and did my job . i always had better luck working for mega carriers vs the small mom and pop shops . I got screwed over a few times times with the smaller companies

Canada is a locked up box, there's all this propaganda about free and open markets but if fact for foreign companies to establish themselves and survive out here is indeed an effort as Canada aligns with EU regulations for the most part. So US companies have to adjust for extra measures. In addition Canada is dominated by a handful of prominent families with marriage-bond ties to government elites (who they themselves bred and promote). And that's not a conspiracy theory, it's all well documented. So if you are a foreign company attempting to access the Canadian market and you don't have any ties in with the aristocrats, then you either won't establish, or if you do they will attempt to squeeze you out of the market in order to assume greater presence and therefore control. We can only get our food from Loblaws, No Frills, SuperStore etc. Telecoms are assumed by the 'Big-3, Rogers/Bell/Telus'. Oligopoly.

Anywho, OP states that Schneider had it fairly well figured out, so I guess too bad they didn't stick around and expand.

Transport N Service gave up on the classy iron several years ago.

I was referring to back when they ran fully loaded 379 Pete’s with chicken lights and chrome.

Canadian Schneider never interstate, drop loaded and pick loaded 400 miles away as an example always bobtail to it .We never dropped loaded and pick up an empty and drop it and pick up loaded .We never picked up in US and delivered in US but we did it in Canada which is interesting that we could do it here in Canada with Indiana plate

It doesn't matter where the truck is plated to run point to point in Canada
as long as the driver is a Canadian.

we have two of their old 579’s sitting in our yard right now not sure if they’re waiting to go to auction or what but the red and white with the chicken lights still looks good to me .I know they ran 379 daycabs a few years ago ,but still a sharp looking fleet in my opinion especially compared to kriska who doesn’t even order red trailers anymore
