I have a really serious issue here- I have been teaming with my spouse for almost 3 years now for a major company. About 7 months ago , it was recommended to us to switch to a dedicated account with a guaranteed rate of 1600.00 per driver per week and a significant increase in mileage pay. Things were great for awhile, but now our miles have dropped significantly. We spend ALOT of time waiting between loads!! And not even 1600.00 checks. Now we are being told we must have 55 hours of on duty/drive time for each of us for the week.
We ran into another driver that said just go on duty/waiting on load. I’m flabbergasted. This goes totally against what I was taught?? I always try to save my 70.
9 hours on duty waiting on load in one sitting?
When we questioned our leader, she was reluctant to tell us this, but yes that’s how you get the guaranteed pay.
Is this common? It just doesn’t make any sense to me?
We are almost to the point of jumping ship because we feel we have been deceived. I know there has to be better opportunities out there.
Does This Make Any Sense???

Take your concerns to the next level of supervision to get answers. In the meantime, determine what you and your spouse are going to do based on the answers you get and be ready to act on them. Nothing in trucking is forever....nothing! The only consistent thing is change - plan for it.Last edited: Jan 20, 2022

That other driver is playing "the game" and going for the guaranteed pay.
It will come back to bite him when he has been sitting and has no hours to run. Im sure its in the contract somewhere that you have to be able to run a set amount of hours per week. -
