Hey all,
My father was a driver with Yellow for many years but passed away some time ago, and I never had a chance to ask him this question.
Going through his things, I saw that the location that he worked at was CGB, which apparently refers to the Chicago Ridge location. But I'm just curious - is CGB a generic code, or is it an acronym, and if so, what does it stand for?
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

All the Yellow terminals had their own three letter code in the system.
They have since adopted the Roadway three digit identifierLtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I did a cup of coffee at that terminal, and I never had any idea why that was the three letter code. Lol

Most LTL companies have codes for their terminals. I worked for Conway Southern Express in Florida way back when and their codes were simple. NOF-Orlando, NJV-Jacksonville, NTP-Tampa, NFM-Ft. Myers, NMF-Miami, NWP-West Palm and NTH-Tallahassee. Pretty simple and easy to remember.

CGB stands for Chicago break bulk terminal meaning large terminal that feeds freight into smaller satellite terminals
