Short run down... I've been trucking 23 years nothing on my record other then a speeding ticket I got on my motorcycle. And even that was written as a 5 over ticket. Been a lease op for the last half of my career and owner operator for the past 7 years. I've always run under someones numbers but now I decided to get my authority. Contacted multiple Insurance companies and keep getting a run around. Even OOIDA wouldn't even give me a quote just cause under my current business structure my other truck has a driver in it at the moment. Has anyone else run into problems finding reputable insurance when switching to running your own numbers?

I can only speculate now but the problem might be the other truck with a driver in it - operating. I would try to open the authority declaring one truck only and then, after a while, add the other truck.
Other than that, I don't see why someone with this much experience and clean record (is that motorcycle ticket very recent?) would not get quotes.77fib77, ProfessionalNoticer and nikmirbre Thank this. -
Yes, as TallJoe stated, I think the problem is with your other truck/driver.

I guess I’m not understanding why having a driver in the second truck is a problem?

So because of that, many insurance companies will not insure new ventures with more than one truck until a year or two has passed by and they show that they are not a high risk.Dino soar, SteveScott, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -

When I got my authority a few years ago, they were very clear that I couldn't add additional equipment or drivers for at least 2 years. As @boneebone pointed out, the insurance carriers know all to well how to avoid paying unnecessary claims.
TallJoe, Dino soar, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this.
