Covenant is sucks.. They will not tell you the truth. My husband was hired by Covenant and now his with trainor. He just knew that it is not 35 days of training but it takes longer than that but in the orientation they only tell that they go out for 35 days of training. My husband was pissed off coz he thought that Covenant is a christian company but it is not...They're EVIL!!!!

I do believe it actually 35 segments which is state as 4 hours a day of driving. Does not mean thats all your driving. You will drive your 10 hour for that day. But only counts as one 4 hour segment and only one a day.And only counts if your under a load. It really about 4 to 5 weeks of driving to = the 35 segments. It depends on how good the loads are running. At this point, Its time to test out on your driving. If you pass! You have to do a least 30 days of team driving with another student. mandatory for all student. it all so gives a 40 segments with your training as a team( husban&wife). It true you never know what company like until you get there. You can read and listen to every thang. You still want know until you try. But most likely you get a speeding ticket, or hit somethang with the truck. Your fired, so be safe and careful. Don't give up.

Truth is that since your coming into this trucking life style from the outside theres alot your simply going to have to get used to. This is not a romantic job, nor is it easy on the wives or the family. I hate to tell you this but it is what it is. Drivers miss Holidays, Birthday's, Graduation's, Anniversary's, and it's not the drivers fault, its the industry. Dispatchers can not always control the freight, road conditions, weather or a whole myriad of things that can screw over your life. All I can tell you is hang tough through the next couple of years and he can get on with a good local company. Then your life gets back to normal. well kind of.

I have taken flights across this country in able to keep my word to my kids, but most will not. Remember to let his dispatchers know about special events about a month in advance then every week remind them, then you have a chance . Anyway good luck, hang tough and be understanding this is probably really hard on your other half also.

Another thing that the wife of the prospective driver should do (especially being associated with a driver mill company such as Covenant) is get down to the local assistance office and get those food stamps and WIC vouchers started, you're gonna need 'em!!!!

I know this is not a religion thread but just so you know Mormons are not Christians. Read their books (not just the Book of Mormon but the other ones too) and you will quickly see that. For one thing they believe that Jesus and Lucifer were spirit brothers -how can that be when the bible clearly indicates that Lucifer is a created being while Jesus is God and that God is spirit

I used to drive for Covenant. I started off pulling reefers but was asked if I wanted to be a trainer so I did. With the first student we only got 1500 miles a week, and this young man although inexperienced drove very well and wanted to run the miles. We went to the high ups over this and the miles came up to 2000 until he graduated. The same thing happened with the 2nd student. We even sat in Front Royal,Va for 3 days after delivering a load because the dispatcher said there was no freight in that area, to which I responded that covenant once deadheaded me from chattanooga to columbus,oh then to indy to pick up a load. The miles for that week were a little over 700. Covenant almost caused me to lose my house because of these low miles. They are by far THE sorriest company I have ever worked for, and I'll tell Mr.P. That face to face. They care nothing about the drivers. Why do u think they are all behind locked doors, hmmmmmmm????

Covenant is mainly a team driving company. If you drive team with them you get a lot of miles

DM says you dont need an AC, RC explains the fumes etc, DM still gives him ####, thats where I'd walk out the door.
Currently after two hours downtime on a breakdown 20.43 an hour starts heading my way.
