Put your straps next to the dunnage if you can't be over it but protect your edges and straps.

My 5th wheel is locked at the last pin. I'm pretty long.

Well, just like yall said, the dunnage on that Effile tower they built on my top step is walking.

Fortunately I made it to the terminal, parked for the night. I can bring it up tomorrow and see what they want me to do.

Is there any way you can get one more strap on that front stack? Even if it’s a ratchet strap, if you can get a strap over the center, then two straps over the outsides of the dunnage, that should keep it from walking out.

But now I’m worried the dunnage on all the other stacks will do the same thing. I didn’t really think about how slippery that crap must be.

I often run into the same problem with the plastic gas pipe we haul... It’s so slippery that I end up using way more straps than I need, just to keep the stupid dunnage in place.

On your front stack (any any stack in the future), put your straps outside of the dunnage. The are currently “inside” the dunnage, that way if they walk they can really only walk in or sideways.

I'm about to have a look at it.

This load is working me hard.

It has to survive 3 more days full of driving. And of course my company routed me through the Vail.... again. But I think I am going to overrule that and just stay on i80. Lol

You may have better results with having the kingpin center of the drive axles. That should give you better balance on drives and steering.

It shifts like a dump truck through the lower gears also. Even 1st to 2nd will send me rocking side to side worse than an auto backing up.

That clears some of it up. I did know the rub rails are weak. Some times you got to use them. Most of my straps don't have the chain ends, just the hooks.

Even if I use the short chains as adapter pieces, I still don't have enough. I used all of them on the load I am on right now, and I still had to attach staps to the rub rail..

It sounds like I should start going under, not over.

MOBee, Sirscrapntruckalot and cke Thank this.
