Are you expecting someone on this message board to give you permission to idle your truck? Are you expecting your company to read your mind and notice you would prefer not to freeze in the bunk overnight? Only you are affected by having no heat in the truck. If you keep volunteering to drive a truck with no heat, nobody is going to give you a gold star. You have to make keeping you alive important to the company if they are not worried about it already. If you keep driving the truck and delivering freight and hope someday in the future someone in the company will let you idle or get the truck fixed you might die before they put you on their To_Do list.

No. I only asked if anyone had any tips that might make it work.
It was working when I left the yard I was happy.
For the moment it's working. So I turned it up to 93 like others suggested and I am going to see if that works.
I am not going to die. Lol. Appreciate the concern. But I got winter gear and like 3 blankets. It's just uncomfortable.
I'll handle the company when it comes to that. I am just trying to learn some things about the truck.gentleroger, Last Call, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
So when can you idle the truck with your company?
Mine is under 32-34 on the low side and above 68-70 on the high side.
Then I have to deal with the temp sensor not reading things correctly, sometimes 10 degrees off.
But under or over those temps I can idle.
In between, sometimes it get a bit too hot or cold and I have to deal with it.
Irritating, but not life threatening. -
My truck I can idle the cooler. If it rises above the temp I set it will turn on. But if I set the heater, nothing happens.
Usually battery mode will still blow air at whatever I have it set at. But this truck I'm not getting that unless it's set on cooler.
The bunk heater is all I got.
Its still blowing at 93. So maybe this will work. Fingers crossed.austinmike Thanks this. -
Have you tried setting something heavy on the peddle to get the rpms up a little and hopefully stop the auto shut off? Never done it myself but it could work. If they give you #### about it winter when you have a broken bunk heater, well, there are other jobs available in trucking I think.
austinmike and TravR1 Thank this. -
That’s rough mate. There are some companies out there that engine only shuts off when checking the oil if the driver needs to idle. I left a company that had a similar rule as you wrote about and became much happier! Also made almost more than double the cash. I just had to get the magical 2 years in to make the necessary jump.austinmike Thanks this.

11+ years in with Swift, and I do not stay because I have to.
I stay because I want to.
Aside from a couple things like the idle, I am treated very well here.
I work with people I respect and actually like, and I can control how I do things out here.
I have a job I love where everyone lets me do my own thing.
Why would I give up that? -
I bet their staff keeps their offices above 35 degrees.
Most important thing is your happy, by all means don’t give that up. I am sure swift appreciates your loyalty and dedication. Something that is hard to find these days.
