Looking for the right fit

    I retired a year ago but I find I'm missing the road. A bit about me, I live south of Lansing Mi now. My Father was a trucker/farmer, learned to drive a truck before I ever drove a car.
    Got my CDL in 07. In that time I drove for 4 employers. Started with a mega pulling dry van. After a couple of years I got on with a small fleet where I pulled pneumatic, frameless dump and, for most of that time, smooth bore food grade tankers. I quit them when they put cameras in the truck.
    After that I got in with a family company with only 6 trucks where I pulled dry van or reefer depending on the load. I had to leave them after my wife of 35 years passed away. That really messed with my head and I felt like I might be a liability to the business so I hung up the keys and went into a factory for a bit but realized that I wasn't cut out for that so I retired.
    I've kept my DOT physical up to date. I have tanker and doubles endorsements, though I've never pulled doubles. I've run both paper and Elogs and I can work with either one.
    I have a VA disability, as such, I don't need health insurance, already retired so I don't need a pension plan. What I'm looking for is a position where I can work WITH a company, not just FOR a company. If that isn't clear, ask me about it.
    Having said all that, what I would like is a good truck, hood or plastic is not that important. What is important is that it be well taken care of, isn't governed. I've spent a long time on the road, and from what I've seen, a castrated truck is a road hazard and a danger to other drivers.
    I drove a couple of autoshifts while pulling a tanker. No more of that please, give me a 13 or an 18 that I can shift myself.Though I can work with that if need be.
    And an APU is a must unless you have a glider truck that I can idle without destroying the motor. I use a CPAP and waking up gasping for breath because the batteries are dead is not a good thing.
    Also, having been there and swearing never to go back, The northeast part of the country is pretty much out of my range. A quick in and back would be ok, with hazard pay.
    I don't need to be home every weekend, long haul is what I prefer, but not vital. I'm just more comfortable hitting only 2 or 3 docks a week. I would like to be home 2 days, ( a day is 24 hours mind you), for every week out. Example: out 1 week, home for 2 days. Out 3 weeks, home for 6 days.
    I know I know, I'm wishing for the moon here, but I am confident that Given the chance, I can make you and I both good money with little friction.
    I know this is a long winded post, but I think it important that someone who is going to trust me with their equipment have a little insight as to how my mind works.

    I love your attitude and your outlook. You're clear about expectations and they are reasonable. We would work together well, but unfortunately I am looking to keep my truck in the northeast to fill some steady lanes I have now. You will find something that works for you, if you haven't already.
