I have a 2016 Volvo 780 with the front Hendrickson Air Ride, the truck rides great, I don’t notice a increase in body roll or swaying in windy conditions.

I only had to change a air bag once, you can easily do it yourself with a 30mm combination wrench for the top and bottom nuts and a bottle jack.

The main thing I recall from most Volvo steer axle air ride discussions is they're finicky about tire choice. As-in they work great with super premium steer tires like top-line Michelin or Bridgestones, and will chew through anything lesser. No first hand experience to report, personally.

Re: the stabilizer option. I have two Mack Anthems. The 2022 I just got has a sway bar. I did not ask for it, and found later that it was apparently added as part of the same assembly spec (13k Meritor). The 2020 I bought last year (was dealer inventory not ordered) does not have one. The sway bar is a worthy upgrade. The older one without it isn't dangerous feeling by any stretch, but the ride improvement is noticeable. To the point I am going to check with the parts department to see if a retrofit is available, or possibly just order the kit off the '22 vin number and install it on the '20 if the rest of the steer axle suspension is compatible. Looks like it clamps on everywhere, so I'm optimistic.

So I guess I'm saying +1 to a spring ride steer with a stabilizer.

Interesting on tires and wonder why? Seems maybe they might have not had enough air in the other brands?

I did hear the same thing about the stabilizer as well. Would add that option if I try it next time.

I have no idea. Of course there were all kinds of wild theories floating around that made absolutely no sense.

Honestly it was kind of tiring to read through. Like a synthetic oil or tire pressure thread.

My peterbilt 389 has the front air ride. I wouldn't buy another truck without it. If you've ever rode in a big body Cadillac, thats about the best thing I can compare it too. Smooth as can be!!!

I have it on my 389, hate it. Do you have problems with the dumb push fittings leaking on the bags, or the level valves??

No problems with the air but I did have a problem getting the leveling valve bolt off last year when I changed my shocks...

Not sure why they made it the way they did but, the passenger side leveling valve bolt goes into the piece that the shock slips over but on the drivers side it doesn't... Kinda goofey.
