Thanks to everyone who has replied and who has taken the time to read the thread as I appreciate it.

Czar-Zero - I will follow up with Ferguson to see what they have available.

Chinatown - You always set the bar high for providing great leads and I truly appreciate you and the others. I hear the weather has been nice in Las Vegas. Do you mind sending some of that warmer weather our way? The wind chill here is supposed to be in single digits. Any tanker companies that you are aware of that hires with no experience but will train? I know there is Heniff and Carry Transit, but not sure about other possibilities that I can follow up with.

Other companies currently on my short list to follow up with (any of your thoughts on them would be great):

    DutchMaid
    Messer America Driver Trainee
Schneider tanker or intermodal. Yes I've heard a lot of horror stories but I am not ruling out all of the Mega's.
Fastenal (not sure how much you touch freight with them)
DOT (don't know a lot about them - seem hard to get on with). Apparently they have no touch freight positions.

    Other Possibilities:

Anyone know anything about getting on with a LTL with no experience but having a CDL already? I talked to one LTL recruiter who said the dock to driver program wouldn't work as I already have my CDL and am not a recent graduate. They require one year in that case.

Also open to OTR dry van or reefer. Food service companies are off the list. I'll definitely research what Chinatown has listed and follow up with the companies that might be a good fit.

Thanks again everyone. I look forward to your continued replies.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

And he is right. I started with Schneider 20 years ago and my first year was a series of ridiculous mess ups. They didn't fire me, they brought me in and gave me training for the specific thing I fouled up. For that I am grateful.

One word of caution. Avoid companies that want you to go out with a trainer for months on end. They are just cheating you out of team pay.

I agree. I know some tanker companies will have the trainer in the front with you while you're driving. Then you stay in a hotel instead of the truck at night. What a luxury huh? Although that would be nice, I am more than happy to spend 4 weeks or so OTR with a trainer as long as they are in the front too and we are not driving as a team. I am also avoiding companies that want you to be with a trainer 8+ weeks.

Thanks Chinatown. You're Awesome! I'll add Eagle transport and some of the others that you've listed to my list to research more and reach out to. I'm excited to see what the different companies have to offer.

Generally speaking, is there an expectation I should have for what is a quality weekly rate for training?

What is a great cpm once training is over?
