Towing capacity

Gvwr is 50,000 that’s gross weight. What are you going to pull with a single axle?

 

No such thing as towing capacity when it comes to class 8 trucks.

Its about the GVW of the truck and trailer. Generally speaking as long as you're not exceeding the weight limit of the axles or the jurisdiction you're hauling in (whichever is lower) its ok.

 

Not sure what PO loads are. Most 5 axle truck and trailers are rated for 80,000#’s gross weight. That means what ever the truck and trailer weigh minus 80,000 will tell you how much weight you can load. So it being a single axle you’re already limited. If you know what kind of weight the loads are and what kind of trailer you’ll be pulling that will give you a better idea if it will work. @singlescrewshaker might be able to shed more light on it.

 

That's the weight the tractor can handle. You keep looking at it like it's a pickup truck. It's not. If you hook up to a typical 2 axle trailer you add 34K to that amount.
This is truck driving 101. Maybe you should not investing money until you get to the 102 level at least....

 

There is no tow capacity rating for semi trucks.

If you have a typical 5 axle (1 steer axle, 2 drive axles, 2 trailer axles) setup you can gross 80,000 pounds... 12000 on the steer, 34000 on the drives, 34000 on the trailer... If it is loaded perfectly.

With more axles and/or different axle setups that can go up to 106,000 pound gross in many jurisdictions.

If you dont understand this then you probably shouldnt be operating a semi truck.

 

I’m thinking that the OP is looking to do Amazon loads with this truck. Probably not a good idea.
