Right now freight is slow I'm told. I'm also told OTR solos are running very slow. At swift they're at the bottom of the dispatch pool.
Teams of course are running better as they're at the top of the dispatch order with O/Os 2nd and Mentor trucks 3rd.
I can tell you that on our fleet which as most know is a dedicated wal-mart grocery fleet.....our team is running a solid 5-6 k every 5-6 days.
We like the insurance very much. Most fleets and especially OTR like you to leave your truck at a terminal or drop yard for home time. And they're supposedly limiting the time out without hometime.
However......I hope it works out for you elsewhere. I always hate to hear someone say they're going to work for Swift as a last resort. Sort of makes me want to kick them in the shin. But then I'm a cranky ol' lady.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

If I get hired with Swift, and I live 180 miles from Memphis. I will have to leave my personal vehicle down there? I have a Pilot 4 miles from the house and have room to park in front of my house.

In retrospect my advice is get as many prehires as possible. You never know what is going to trip you up at what company.
I swear nearly everyone that submits an application at Werner gets a prehire. They don't seem to check anything until you call to get your bus ticket. They didn't run my MVR until a week before my scheduled orientation date.
I had incorrect info on it. I should have spend $8 or called to get my MVR from another state before applying anywhere. -
Rug, werner checks your criminal history and nothing else til you get to orientation, for me atleast. At one point i failed the criminal check and they wouldnt tell me anything about it (because they illegally obtained information), which did not help me clear up the problem for months until i found out when i found myself in the back of a cop car...
My mom worked in the office at my last job and a week after i'd been on a truck she got a call from werner to verify my employment. LOL. She has a different last name than me, but i wonder what they wouldve said if they found out who she was! I do use her as an emergency contact as "my mom", and she had to give her name and position with the verification/reference, so maybe they just dont care.
(But she didnt say anything that wasnt true anyway. Im a great worker, 100% ontime etc).
And when i first went solo, i used to get qualcomm messages from my recruiter asking me to call and give more info. That was pretty funny, if you think about it. (at werner anyone can send a qualcomm message to anyone, i've sent them to other trucks before..
)
wannadrive365 Thanks this. -
HAHA that was a good one

So are you still working for werner or what i wanted to get on with them after i finish school in march whats your advise
-
Well I had my recruiter and their travel department confirm all paperwork was in. Now I have copies of all paperwork I sent in and will keep those with me just in case they say..." we do not have this". I will be at Tunnell hill sunday.

Na you can take your truck home. I live 40 miles from the Gary terminal and park my truck in front of the house. No problems yet and I've been doing it a year
I only leave my truck at the terminal when it needs a service or the weather is just horrible for bobtailing, but 180 miles out you should be ok. They will try to get you to a customer thats close to where you live, then you go home from there
