Looking to get a cdl and start trucking.

Hello my name is Dustin Knipfer and well I just have a few questions that I would like outside oppinions on. I have 2 traffic violations on my driving record : 1 for no seatbelt and 1 for careless driving( my left front brake locked up on my truck and the police officer thought I was showing off somehow). Now back to my question I have wanted to become a truck driver since I was 4 years old and wondered if it would be easier just to go to the dot and just try and take the tests or go through a program. My father has been a trucker since I was born along with my stepdad and a good friend of mine so I do know more about trucks than the average public. The only reason I have to ask this question on here is because none of them want me to drive a truck. All of them have differant reasons which I understand but its just something Ive always wanted to do.

 

crap the careless driving thing was last summer but I checked out some info on school and the local college around here has a pretty good program it looks like and only costs around $1800 and they test for class a in cabovers and conventional with there trucks being 8, 10, 13 speed.

 

I know I cant go out of state until Im but after I get the liscense a i have a local job lined up driving a truck and pup with a guy my dad used to work for. I was asking which would be better for down the road if after I turn 21 I decide to go out of state.
My dad works for Zapitul trucking from mystic iowa and his reason is my safety. He brings up all the traffic deaths that happen across america anytime I talk about it plus he wants me to join the military.
My friend if i remember right is an owner op thats leased to Swank from north liberty and he says " You will never get to have a succesfull marraige if your a trucker."
My stepdad on the other hand isnt a trucker anymore but hes changed his mind and thinks it would be something i would really enjoy so now hes goin to help with the schooling.

 

the day after i got the ticket i talked to a dot .... well officer i guess and she does the testing at the school i plan on going to and said it shouldnt affect me to much so long if anyone bother asking i made it clear it was a mechanical problem.
