Kidney stones are not fun. If you are at work on a trip in the middle of nowhere, you are so screwed if that's your 1st time. Driving is pretty much out of question...maybe to the very first truck stop but even that could be questionable. I guess these pains may very too.
From what I can tell you nothing could be much worse than that.
I ended up in an ER to find out what the hell that was all about but the very thought of that thing manifesting itself again is a little concerning.
I'll see a urologist to tell me if that is something I can pass or I need to go for some kind of procedure. If the former, then what are the chances of that thing happening again, before it passes...better have some painkillers on me at all times...should I stick around local redious for a while or what? I mean whenever I have to manage the pain again... Asking rhetorically.

I guess...I don't want to whine or anything but just wanted to express my surprise that there are certain kinds of pain that a grown-up male at 50 years of age can be so... unaware of...LOL

Too much coffee maybe...but now when I think about it, right before it happened, I had a bottle of coke from a pop machine.

My wife’s had them quite a few times. She takes Urocit-K prescribed to avoid more. Depends on the type of stone. One huge stone has been lodged in her kidney for 23 yrs. Recently had a few with in 6 mos. after years without problems. Might be small ones breaking off, or new ones forming. They don’t know. The blasting has worked a few times. Except on the large one. Too much blasting actually damaged the kidney. Hope they get you rid of them, and maybe a daily pill or diet change to avoid more. Pure Lemon juice every day is supposed to help avoid more. Avoiding Oxylates, in Coffee, Coke’s,etc. All depends on the type of stone, chances are you have the common type like my wife does.

I had one years ago and it was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. My nurse said she had 3 kids and a kidney stone and she’d rather have another kid. The pain come from it blocking your ureter and your urine backing up into your kidneys. Once it hits your bladder you’re good then you gotta pass that sucker. My urologist described it as a pine cone shape with burrs. So I was on pins and needles waiting to pass it. Never did so they set me up for laser blasting. Took a mri to find it they couldn’t. Took a X-ray still nothing. My doctor said I might have gotten lucky and it turned and came out just right and not “against the grain”. So I lucked out big time I never knew I passed it. Get the highest % of real lemon lemonade you can find. I think it’s like 12 or 13%. The acidity breaks down and prevents kidney stones from forming. Dark soda is a main culprit, my urologist said for some reason in his experience it seemed to be Dr. Pepper was a main player. Best of luck dude I feel for ya. It’s a bummer.

I'll sure ask him that when I see him.
I hope it won't be a surgery. I'd prefer to pass it without any interventions...as long as does not squeeze my guts again like that ... lol

We both drink coffee constantly. She had gotten back on the cokes, for a while, before the last attack. No more Cokes for her. So far 18 mos. no more Cokes or stones.
