I am going through CNM here and only having to pay $1100-1300. It's an 11 wk course the first 3 is academics. You end up with your permit and they even have sim you can practice on. The rest of the time is all hands on training. Range/OTR When you get to the OTR portion you are 1 on 1 when driving with instructor

My husband recently finished his training through the local community college Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. The program was run by SAGE. He completed all his class work and then went to the driving range to begin his driving. He completed all the range manuvers and started driving on the road. He completed the mandatory 44 hours of driving. He logged over 500 miles on the road. The only person in the truck with him was his instructor. SAGE is PTDI certified and I would reccommend SAGE to anybody interested in training for their CDL. SAGE mets all the 2010 DOT requirements and in most cases exceeds them. If you can not tell we really liked SAGE:yes2557:

I'm currently enrolled in the CDL program at the local community college here, and if I were a state resident I'd have paid just over $800. I've only lived here about 3 months though, so I got to pay out of state tuition which was just over 3 grand. Ouch.

Its a good program, though...all the instructors are former drivers and/or diesel mechanics, and they don't just give you a text book answer for questions. They're also PTDI certified.

Mike, I looked on the DCC webpage and can't find anything about the truck driving program. Do you know if it is still operating?

Also, I know that Weatherford College (also mentioned earlier) had a program, but just like DCC, there isnt anything listed on the WC website.

    Any info?

Go to page 19. They have some free tuition specials and contact info. Good luck.
