I'm way to young. Gramps favorite truck was a 54/55 LJ. Owned many others and drove company truck for Cooper Jarret. He was 6'4" and said once you wrapped your legs around the colum once or twice in a cracker box Jimmy, you could stretch out and sleep.
Dad was only 6' but bigger than gramps, first truck he bought was a 64 Loadstar daycab gas job, leased to Hennis freight lines. Ran the Carolinas North. Before the hills were cut down. I've done sketchy stuff. Those guys I tip my hat to.

Sleeper cabs and long wheel base trucks hardly existed in the Eastern part of the country. "West Coast Trucks" were just that. Longer with sleepers. Nothing was built for long trucks this side of the Mississippi till years later.
I still frequent docks in Cleveland Oh built for a daycab and 35' trailers.Dadetrucking305, DeereRunner97, singlescrewshaker and 11 others Thank this. -

I followed that build over on HEF. He put a lot of pride into that build. He's quite an artist too if I remember it right. Haven't been over on that site in quite a while.Last edited: Feb 9, 2022

I drove a b model for a bit when I was younger......like 14 or 15. Didn't care for it much then. Most of the macks until the mid 90s or so, weren't exactly my thing.DeereRunner97, singlescrewshaker, PoleCrusher and 5 others Thank this.

Every time I see an alley dock in some city, I just shake my head and think of how thankful I am not to be a box jockey. No thanks! They were built for day cabs and pups, but those sleeper trucks with 53s still get in there somehow.......hard pass.Dadetrucking305, DeereRunner97, singlescrewshaker and 6 others Thank this.

Well, my taillights on my truck have been out for about a month. Not gonna lie, I've been dreading it. I despise wiring on old trucks. At what point does a fella look down and say....you know what, thats prolly got enough butt connectors already. Hell no......throw another one in there.....gees. I kid you not, there had to be 20 butt connectors in the 3 ft of wire going from the harness to my hangar lights. No joke. So I fixed it good enough for now. It's just gotta make it a month until my rear Fenders get in and installed. I understand a road fix, when you just gotta get down the road. However, when you get home, why not actually fix it?
