Weird electrical problem with most likely a wiring or connector issue. So this is whats happening.
While driving i will get brief engine power cut off (lasts no longer than a second) at the same time I will get "Engine ECU Maintenance Required" message but not always though, whats interesting is that dash works and all the gages work except for oil pressure gage goes towards zero pressure (replaced both oil pressure sensors) but only when experiencing power cut off, after a second everything is like it never happened however this seems to be tied to how wet the roads are so definitely wiring issue, problem is.... where else to start? So I had a PTT hook up and could not establish connection between PTT and ECU so I had ground wires cleaned up at the frame, batteries, starter, got rid of power cut off switch with no change in connectivity to ECU. Then I have pulled out all three ECU plugs which looked great btw, cleaned them up applied dry lube to the connectors reinstalled. Afterwards I was able to gain the access to the ECU with PTT software and read out Inactive Ecu codes:
#1. Engine ECU- PSID 201 MID144 FMI 9 Abnormal update rate
#2. ENGINE ECU- PSID 229 SAE J1939 DATA LINK, SUBNET 1, MID 233 FMI 9 Abnormal update rate
#3 VEHICLE ECU- MID144 PSID 200: Data Link, MID128, FMI 9: Abnormal update rate
#4. Vehicle ECU (MID 144) PSID 230: Critical MSW Error or Improper Shutdown, FMI 5: Current below normal or open circuit
#5. SID 231: SAE J1939 data link, FMI 2: Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect
From my understanding there is apparently water intrusion along with bad wiring causing the problem. Any idea where else would you point me to go with this. Thanks in advance guys and be safe out there!

There seems to be a common thread here, I have an Isx in my volvo ,see pic, I too get similar issues. Is it a problem with the instrument cluster or it’s connections? Also how is you multi plug pass through? Is it tight or corroded? I had my mechanic change 72 pins because they were really bad. It solve some issues. It’s on the firewall which gets wet. An ad on Kijiji , Canadian buy sell site , mentions intermittent power loss due to instrument cluster issues.

Ok, I got it sorted out.

1st issue, Engine ECU Maintenance Required
Fix: Pulled 2 main plugs in and out of ECM several times, sprayed some dry lube, reinstalled, problem no longer present 4+ weeks now

    2nd issue, Intermediate power loss
Fix: Turbo - VGT actuator twist off plug connector had connectivity issues, got it cleaned up, dry lubed, reinstalled, no longer hesitates uncontrollably

3rd issue, ABS and TCS flicker on dash while TCS engaging at the same time for brief moments when going over bumps
Fix, 5th wheel power cable (outlet and the socket) were shorting due to age and water intrusion, replaced outlet and the socket, TCS doesn't engage (on its own) on bumpy roads anymore

Siinman, simonsocm and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this.
