My friend has had his '96 since '04. All this time he has been leased to LS. His needs paint. IIRC the bug deflecter is cracked. He did put a new chrome bumper on it for Christmas. Wheels/tanks got polished in a truck stop in Laredo for cheap.
He keeps good rubber, oil changes, been on the same brakes for a long time. He is a real laid back driver. He putts along at 59mph empty, loaded, or bobtailing.
I'll reiterate, he made more money as a company driver. JB was his best $$$. He quit there in 2003. Not the same company.
Phroziac ask the LS guy what you need to prove experience, what percentage of applicants make it to lease there. I may call them just for grins and giggles.

So, are you implying that it would be better paying as a company driver? That is my two choices. Either I'm going with Werner or I'm going owner/op. I'm just trying to see what my best bet will be. I really appreciate all the info you guys have been giving me.

You are asking questions here from people who don't know the answers.
I have been self employed most of my life. Just never owned a truck. You have to have worker comp on yourself or something similar for most companies.
Get out an do your research. You probably need in excess of $35,000 to roll that old truck. -

LOL. Well, I'll just work for Werner then. I don't have the 35 g's. Thats ok though. Werner seems to be a good company to work for. I'll just work here and if I don't like it save up the money and go into the o/o field. Thanks again

I just always wanted to be my own boss but, I don't wanna lose my ### in the process. Maybe I'd be better off to get me some experience first. So, are any of you trainers at Werner?

I drove through the back lot of TN in my town today. There was suppossed to be a '94-96 FLD there with 350K on it. Detroit and 13speed. It was gone. They were asking $8K for it. Too much!

Enjoyed reading the thread, some good information about Werner here.
I am in school right now and will be graduated in May (long course), have been looking at companies in the area, I know Werner has a terminal in French camp near Stockton and was wondering if any of you guys had any knowledge of what it is like to work out of there? Any info greatly appreciated. -
Werner has a drop yard in Lathrop, not a terminal. Fontana CA is the terminal close to you
