Nevada Trucking & Trails on the tube also did a recent video on installing a Green APU on their 389. So far they seem quite pleased with it.

Love my tripac Evo. 6000 hours and still works 90 percent of the time. Has an electrical bug, but solid unit.

Honestly stick with the big 2. Thermoking or carrier. Those APUs don’t give you much problems if you maintain them right. I got a carrier with 7k hours only done the usual 1k hour PMs and I did have to get a new alternator around 6.8k. Sometimes it’ll throw a fake overheat fault but it’s just the temp sensor wire getting loose just got to snug it back in. Thermoking aren’t that bad either I just like the carrier better since it has a generator and an alternator vs thermokings having just a bigger alternator that I’ve seem to have go out every 4k-5k hours.

I’ve had mine over two years now. Minimal issues. All fixed over the phone with support. It seems every service they’ve updated something. Hot or cold outside I’m always comfortable. Oh and I’m down a tank of fuel a week. That in itself paid for it under a year.

    KB3MMX Thanks this.

Our Green APU is much quieter and smoother than our New Carrier Comfort Pro!
The 3 cylinder Green APU is a dramatic improvement over the 2 cyl vibration boxes that Carrier and TK make... They need to dump their junk 2 cyl motors and get the 3 cyl Kubota

    This is odd.
Our Green is substantially quieter and Smoother with the 3 cylinder VS the Carrier and TK 2 cylinder units... Maybe they changed something?

Ok guys I’m back, had to try this thing out in all the seasons. Coming up to about a year with the green apu and so far so good. Had to do a little of my own mods to have it just the way I wanted it. I did however expect a little more out of it.

    Starting off with the pros..
-The install was smooth, was ready the same day. The guys at quickway carriers in Fort Worth Texas did an awesome Job installing the apu on two of our trucks.
-The engine parts are found EVERYWHERE. I needed to get an oil change done once when I was in Portland OR, just drove to the nearest Napa and they had everything.
-Pretty good airflow coming out of the vents.
-Good warranty ( true to their word)
    - very responsive tech support
    -works great in the winter
    - Maintenance is easy
-easier to jump start then having to jump start the whole truck.
-Overall it does what it’s suppose to do ( keep sleeper cool, keep battery’s charged, keep fuel and engine warm)

    Now the cons
-If you’re not used to an apu running all night, it might take some getting used to. The green apu isn’t as quiet as I thought it would be so if you’re a light sleeper it may keep you up at night especially when the ac compressor kicks on and off. You hear a tick under the bunk then the engine rpm cycles as it receives more load from the compressor.
    - The control panel does seem a bit outdated for a unit that runs more then $10k, it doesn’t even tell you the time.
    - In temp over 100 degrees, two things have happened. My apu kept overheating even after letting the truck cooldown for about 3 hours. And it will struggle to keep the sleeper cool. I had to be very close to the vents in order to stay somewhat cool. In green apu defense my sleeper does need new insulation installed but the overheating really bummed me.
-there is a small leak of coolant under the water pump which had been stated to be normal from kubota according to green apu. But if the leak is excessive then it is covered under warranty(which happened in another truck we installed the apu in)
-Parts not related to the engine seem to be overpriced ( I was quoted $75 for a few bolts and a spring latch that hold one of the panels in place)

Also would like to mention ….
If your truck has a bad head or head gasket it will cause coolant to flow out of the reservoir tank. Happened multiple times on a C15 6nz in Arizona.
Coolant lines tap in near the water pump.

    Things I did to improve…
-Summit racing sells an awesome exhaust tip to direct the gases downward. It’s polished and corrosive resistant. Here is the part number GIB-500415
Took a little modification with a cutoff tool to get it to fit but it looks great.
-I added a Thermoking air tower to redirect the airflow from the floor to the top of my bunk. Instead of the air blowing at my curtains, it blows right at me.

Overall pretty happy with the investment even though there is room for improvement. I hope this short review helps those in the market looking for an apu.

They have got to be the noisest APU on the market. With the racket they make I don't see how a driver would be able to sleep along with anyone else within 500ft.
