I’m in the market for my first truck. And have been very skeptical of anything newer with all the emissions and such and costing me downtime. My buddy turned me on to a 00 W900 tri axle factory heavy haul with 450k on the dash. It’s got a 475hp 6nz with an 18sp and 4:56 gears. I haven’t went and looked at it yet but was looking for some feedback on reliability and common issues. Now I realize that it’s a great engine and I love Cats…been running a 625 C15 for years with no major issues.
Also he’s asking 70k for it…is it worth it?

Yes if that’s what you want. I like low gearing but 65 if fast enough for me. I’d check ecm miles it might be 1,450,000 and if so price needs to come down a lot. W-9 and 379 even Int’l Eagle, are crazy high at the moment. I’m looking myself and it sux

If you plan on heavy haul, then yes. But if not its a bad idea.

I knew someone that sold a 2000 379 studio sleeper with. 6NZ with less than 100k on a inframe, had a New APU that was hardly use, 13 speed, very clean for 60K. So that truck your looking at, heavy spec, sounds right about in todays crazy market.

With the current prices, I figure I could get $70,000 for mine. Granted, 1994 means it's eld exempt, but still.

The 4.56 will be about 1750 or so at 65 if it's tall 24.5 our 2nd truck has 4.42 on tall 24.5 and it's 1600 at 65 but that's still the sweet spot for my engine

Wouldn’t l buy it to gross 80-100,000 pounds though like that, but as heavy haul it sounds about right

Looks like a heavy girl that doesn't like to go too fast but I assume by your screen name it fits the bill. $70k doesn't seem all that unreasonable for the type of work it does if the miles are original...somebody with deep pockets had that one built. Good move staying away from the newer stuff. Mid 90's up until the mid 2000's is kind of the sweet spot for modern electronic motors with none of the emissions junk.
