And thats my point dieselbear, As long as you and other LEO do there job right it can be very hard to get out of a ticket. But I have seen many tickets with mistakes on them, Or radars that haven't been tested correctly or LEO's who write bogus tickets. The point is don't just roll over and accept that just because some badge wrote it you must pay it. I respect LEO and the job they do but my time as one taught me one thing. They are human and humans make mistakes. Mistakes that can get truckers out of tickets.

Oh one more point, I don't know about in your state but in most of them the D.A. does the court thing. Including the plea bargains. Which is another reason why you should have a lawyer. They lunch together, drink together etc. so take advantage of that.

Years ago a friend was backing into a Duncan Donuts. He was blocking traffic in 2 lanes. He partner was not out directing traffic. Some stupid little old lady flew around him crossed the centerline and hit another car head on.

He got the ticket, not the stupid old lady. He hired a lawyer, no points. He paid the lawyer, and paid $150 into the local "crime fighting fund."

Well the D.A. is there is jailable offenses not minor traffic. DUI, driving while suspended etc, is where the State will have a prosecutor. Speeding, log book, part violations there is no D.A.

lets say a rig is not up to DOT standards lets say their is an issue with the brakes

instead of the LEO stealing money from the hard working trucker when you pull someone over or do an inspection at the coop why don't you educate them on what needs to be fixed instead of writing them a fine which takes away from the money they need to use to repair the item? (if they are a o/o) If its something that is a severe safety issue place him/her out of service verbally or in way that doesn't affect his/her safety rating and give the person a chance to get it fixed while at the coop.

Dont forgot how you guys get your cars and other supplies it doesn't arrive there magically  so treat us with some respect and courtesy give us a chance to make things right instead of just writing a fine.

You're kidding, right? You didn't really post this drivel did you?

When said truck drivers walks out to his truck, before he pulls the thing out onto the road he did a pretrip, correct? He's passed his driving test, passed his training where his trainer went over everything he "learned" in his driving school or in the case of a veteran driver he knows everything that should be checked.

Where does it say in the FMCSA the DOT is to "show" this PROFESSIONAL driver how to inspect anything? And they DO 'educate" the driver on what needs to be fixed as he usually walks the driver back to show him the "problem"

The driver is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of the truck and trailer! If he doesn't know what he's looking at during a pretrip, WTF is he doing driving?

Sorry, but you show driving 3 years. If you actually believe what you wrote I believe you were not taught how to do a proper PTI and need to get someone to "educate" yourself! PLEASE!

Besides, If you are NOT certified to adjust brakes, do repairs on any safety related equipment on a truck trailer, you can not do the repairs!

It was a joke so take it easy....

I know how to do my PTI and repair the majority of items on my rig if need be.

I keep my rig clean and well maintained hell I even armor all my tires and air bags on a daily basis.

Well did it again. Got a ticket in K.C. for Missouri's stupid no trucks in the left lane law last week. Got a lawyer and got it taken care of. He said that is an easy one to fix. $100 and get it's reduced to faulty equipment. Turn signal out. Stupid county mounty, Told him I would get out of it.

ALWAYS FIGHT THAT TICKET. Lawyers rule, cops....well you know the rest.
