Y’all talking about not sleeping well in trucks running and other noise. All Pop’s trucks had twin 6” straight pipes. I sleep better in my bucket of bolts than I do our king memory foam bed at home….

Well, I made it home Saturday afternoon from my delivery in Tulsa. I rolled in to Valmont Industries in Tulsa at 0245hrs and they are supposed to be a 24hr facility. Of course the overnight shift didn't have any forklifts operators. So, I say there until they were ready at 1145hrs.

What stinks about Valmont Industries in Tulsa is their directions to the faculty for trucks. If you ever go there to deliver steel or anything else do not drive on Haskell or North Xanthus. You will not be able to make any turns and you will find the low hanging trees on Victor that I was forced to drive under and it put so much pressure on my right exhaust stack that it broke the band clamp and the stack fell back against the cab. Great. I called Fleet Pride and Truck pro in Tulsa to get clamps and neither had any in stock in 5" or 6". Since I was at a steel fabrication shop in Valmont Industries I walked in to the shop and had one of their welders repair my broken clamp and add some reinforcement to prevent it from breaking the weld. Got it fixed and hit the road home. I was deadheading home and I stopped at a small truck stop on US-69 to get a drink and when I came back out to leave I found I had zero clutch pedal. I adjusted the clutch a few weeks ago. Well, it appears that when the last clutch was installed someone forgot to put Loctite on the bolts that keep the cross shaft and the release bearing yoke mated together. And to top it off one of the cross shaft bushings came out and broke apart so the clutch linkage was super loose.

I was able to start the truck in low gear to get rolling and I drove the rest of the 134 miles home without having to hit the clutch pedal. I had to time the red lights perfectly and I made it home. Got the truck in the shop this morning to pull the trans and install a new clutch, release bearing and cross shaft with a new yoke. Yay.

Hope y'all have a good week while I'm at the house turning wrenches.
