That's an idea, but he doesn't have the equipment to offload the containers onto our trucks.
I haven't ran Canada ever... But I am looking into it since I've seen some good paying loads going there. I think all I need is a passport. Ontario & Quebec can kiss my fat ###! I ain't governing my truck to please them. The other Provinces, I'd buy the wheelbase permit to enter!

That flip yard might be on hold according to the blog page.
REDD Thanks this. -
Oh Yes!!!
Orientation! They are going to try to sell you everything under the sun! It is nothing but a big sales pitch. You don't have to buy any of it.... But I do highly recommend the accountant unless you have someone to keep up with all your deductions or if you prefer to do things in your sleeper at the end of the day.
I'm not sure what kind of flatbed experience you have... But day 4 is a optional flatbed refresher class. Your going to most likely be there anyhow, so might as well sit in on it. You might remember something you forgot or learn something new. -
I see that now. Probably a money issue. -
Hey, wasn't orientation just 2 days with a 3rd for securement?
I don't think I need a wheelbase permit, I don't know what the rules are but there are a lot bigger trucks out there than mine. I was reluctant to deal with ON & QU although I used to take tanks there all the time years ago. Funny how so many of them don't speak english when you have a question or need help, but then barely have an accent when they need something!
I have the software and cables to reprogram my ECM anytime I want, so I've got two saved files to swap between: my normal program, and the same thing except for max speed. How many O/O's are NOT going to those provinces for this very reason? I'm sure it's way too expensive to go in a shop before and after to have the ECM reflashed.
Hope they get that situation fixed in SoCal. We can't be the only ones having problems with this. -
Take into consideration that most freight coming out of Canada pays very low...
Great minds think alike!
Western Canada just loosened up the wheelbase regulations....Also remember that a spread axle is limited up there because they do not count it as more than one axle. -
I would say orientation will take as long as how few there are in it if that makes sense.

Thanks Redd. That's a lot of info to digest.
I'll be running 48 states. Been to NY a few times when I was at Swift. Didn't necessarily enjoy going there, but I'd go as long as it's profitable. Likewise on steel mills in Pittsburgh - I hate going there, but I'll go wherever the money is.
Canada may be a bit tricky. I'm a permanent resident and don't have U.S. citizenship yet. I'll look into how difficult it is for a guy like to cross the border. My sister lives in Vancouver BC, and I used to live in Seattle area. It was easy to go up there before 9/11, but now not so much.
Southern fried, could you elaborate on the speed limiter issue? I've never been to Canada driving a semi, so I have no idea.
Home time - I'd be OK being out 5~6 weeks at a time, if not longer at least until I get back on my feet. I'd like to get my savings back up. I'm planning to take 2 week off in August (my extended family races at Bonneville) - probably not the most prudent thing to take time off during busy season, but I'll make up for it staying out longer later if that's necessary. It's been our tradition for a long time.
There'll be some learning curve figuring out where hot areas are. I see it is totally different from what I had seen. I always sat for a few days when I got to Houston. I don't mind reasonable deadheading.
10-4 on pads. I'll go to U-haul and pick some up.
Thank you guys.REDD Thanks this. -
I believe the wheel base thing is the eastern provinces. 244 inches is... or was max unless you bought a permit. The western provinces I believe are not nice when it comes to spread axles....
But All that is old hear say.... -
I always deadheaded back to the state tried for the loads close to the border. Took one 600 miles up there last winter but it payed to come back too.
