Very generous, considering inflation and scamation rates at this point, it was fortunate they did not ad $3,499.99 smiley tow truck driver's face charge to the pile.
Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
My buddy and I were just talking about tow truck rates a couple hours ago and how some guys just rip people off.
-
She should of had asked up front what would be the tow charge before allowing to tow the vehicle.
PS: considering the company's name "10G" it would be a hint to figure out what they are charging per tow, she was lucky to stay below that))Grumppy Thanks this. -
Everybody wants to rip off everyone else it appears.

Meanwhile here in Saskatchewan I had my 140,000 lbs super b train recovered out of a muddy ditch. 6 hours for one tow truck plus two hours for a second tow truck, plus mileage an hour out of the city.
Total cost was only $1,875
I thought that was a bargain.Dino soar, LoneRanger, Big Road Skateboard and 1 other person Thank this. -
Considering post above, not everybody

I drove for a regular towing company for about 6 months, liked the job but the pay was very inconsistent. Would be gang busters one night and lucky to get a tire change the next night.
One snowy day I figured the phone would be ringing off the hook, but it wasn't and I really needed to make some money. So I decided to drive around and look for people needing help. I ended up pulling 1 or 2 people out of the ditch, just charged them the normal rate, my company didn't try to rip anyone off. I always explained the rates to the customer before I did anything.
I found out later it was actually illegal to do that, but no one had ever told me.
I myself had been ripped off by a tow company when I was a teenager. Took a couple buddies wheeling with me at a spot we had heard about late one Saturday night. Ended up getting stuck in the 1st mud hole off the road, we were trespassing so I needed help quick.
Called AAA, told them I was stuck right off the road, even though I was actually about 50 yards back a dirt path. They sent out a rollback and when he got there he refused to drive off the road and said he needed to go get a wrecker truck with a longer winch line. Even though it was technically off road the rollback would have been just fine reaching my stranded truck as it was perfectly dry and flat. All my truck needed was a quick yank as I was just stuck in a deep dry rut.
He knew he had us over a barrel and wanted like $250 extra to get the 2nd truck. I think we had about $75 between the 3 of us so I told him that's all we had. He accepted and came back with the wrecker and we forked over the cash for a 2 minute job. He even had the audacity to give me his card and told me to give him a call next time I got stuck wheeling. -
That's interesting I was speaking with someone tonight that had a truck he was towing about this very thing.
He said he went to work for this particular towing company because they didn't rip people off he didn't want to be a part of that.
I told him that one time I was in New Jersey and I just pulled off the road to get out of the way of traffic and I sank in the soft sand.
I was terrified to even call a wrecker because I was afraid what they were going to charge me just to pull me out.
There was a company that came out of Delaware and he was very experienced and he very carefully pulled me right out.
He asked me if I was an owner operator. I said yes. He said give me $350. I thought that was a great deal because he brought out a wrecker that literally could have picked up my whole trailer.
He said I figured you were an owner operator. If you were one of the megas I would have really hit them with a huge bill.
When I get back to the office I need to dig up the name of that company because I did want to put it on the site. I thought that was very fair what he did.Mototom and prostartom Thank this.
