You might try something I used to do.

EG. In Toronto (which has been no-idle, anti-truck for years) I was waiting in a lumber yard/store parking lot one night to be unloaded in the morning. Had already contacted the store owner and was instructed to untarp and his crew would be there around 6AM. Remember now, this is their private business park lot. Around 3AM was awakened by loud banging on my truck. ####### city cop beating on my truck with his flashlight. He tells me move. I explain my presence. He says "Don't care.... move". I suggest calling store owner. Cop says "Don't care what he wants either..... move". HD wrecker pulls in, was called by cop before he even woke me. I point out to cop that my load is untarped and unstrapped for delivery. He says "Not my problem, move now".

Soooo.. I pull out my bill of lading. I say "Fine by me, just need your signature right here on bottom". Cop blinks and says "What for?". I say " So that I can return the load to the shipper as undeliverable also to remove my liability when unsecured load falls off my trailer. Give me a ticket while you're at it so that insurance co and reciever can sue the proper detatchment". All this in very calm and reasonable manner. Those who know me well would start backing away when I get all polite like this.

Cop says "I'm not signing anything". I smile and say "You better just shoot me then." Cop looks at me funny and says "Why would I do that?" I reply "Cause if you try to hook that wrecker on my truck at least one of you is gonna die". Cop looks at me for a couple minutes and starts laughing "####, you're crazy". I laugh too and say "wouldn't you be?"

After a bit they leave but cop comes back later while they're unloading me and tells the story to the crew. Never again had problems getting unloaded there.:biggrin_25523:

BTW, before you ask "What if he'd drawn his gun?".... just exactly what I told him. Y'see, I AM just that crazy.:biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523:

It would only take once for a company to threaten calling the cops for parking on their property while waiting for a load that they're late loading. I'd pull my trailer out and leave, call dispatch and tell them to find something else and never pull another load for those jerks again. It's not the driver's fault that they can't get their act together enough to get you loaded on time.

Hell im parked at a walmart about 100 miles north of Toronto in Huntsville, ON right now. Only place within about 40 miles of the big kimberly clark plant here to park overnight. A guy on the CB told me they're cool, just park in the back, got here, a canada cartage truck was parked by the dock, plenty of room back here, just pulled up where im not in the way and set the brakes. A guy was running the front end loader plowing snow, i got out to ask if it was alright...he just smiled and waved at me. LOL.

That depends on his truck. My current truck can go over 100 miles on empty. I drove one for a while that was totally bone dry at 1/8 tank! That place is only 100 miles from toronto.

I don't by this story. If you threatened a cop or the tow driver you would have been hooked up and hauled away. I do not care where you are you can not threaten a officer or there agent ( In this case would be the tow driver) . You would have been arrested and the truck and trailer impounded.

I don't really care about the story but the newbie's believe this crap and may try it, and they will be going to jail. Which is where you would have gone. Ask the Bear's that hang out in here if you threaten them with injury and death are you going to win the argument. Your not.
