Hallucinogenic shrooms and Gators don't mix? Hmm, that's news to me

"Local gator goes nuts on the evening news" "think it got into the shrooms again, it keeps chomping at the air"

 

Best thing is.....you know someone had to do it......and something noteworthy had to ensue. Hence the need for the sign. I wanna know what that was.....

 

Like that slinky place down in Vidor, TX. Signs warning you of gators and poisonous snakes at the staging lot.

 

My first trip solo to Texas in a day cab pulling a flatbed. I wheeled into the hotel and got checked in. There was a restaurant across a field and it was a long walk around and I was hungry! So I took off across the field of fairly tall grass, I’d say it was maybe knee high, I noticed 2 waitress’ standing behind the building having a smoke break and the one looks like she’s waving. I thought dang I heard people were friendlier in the south but thought ok whatever and waved back. I get to the other side of the field and the “nice lady” says “you ain’t from around here are ya’ ?” My first thought was how’d she know that? And she says “It’s obvious you’re not. Nobody from here would be dumb enough to walk thru a field off tall grass like that!” And then it dawned on me how stupid that actually was. I’ve since seen the size of the rattler’s they have in Texas and never made that mistake again.

 

I have gators at them back door during the summer. Choose your weapon wisely, broom or 30.06. There is one old gator that the broom is enough. It is the young punks that end up on my feet as boots.

 

Bet you had chiggers the next day too.
