I am leased to Brown. Started with them in 2006. I run out of Athens, Alabama. We do mainly short hauls. We haul corrugated paper (cardboard) to box plants, boxes, roll stock paper (usually as a back haul to a corrugated plant) scrap cardboard to paper mills and other freight as well. You basically run out of a plant or two that are located near you. The loads go to dedicated accounts, then you are routed back to your home plant via scrap to a paper mill, then paper to a corrugated plant, or to another plant depending on schedule. Loads are usually between 12 and 30 thousand pounds, except for roll stock. O/O are paid 72%. We are home every weekend. I would not be leased to anyone else, but I like the way they work.

My husband and I just purchased his first truck after 18 years of company driving and he is signing a lease with Brown. I am trying to figure out all the paperwork and I think I have it, but I'm confused about this Registration/Cab Card thing. Does Brown registration OO trucks in their name, with the OO listed as lessor, or do they want you to register it in your name and keep up with all the IRP percentages, etc? Hope that makes sense - new at this :biggrin_25510:. The DMV is no help at all!

mtrail1 You register the truck in your name or if you are an LLC or a corporation, in that name. When the truck is licensed, the state will ask who you are leased to (at least they do in Alabama) and that will go on your cab card too, along with your name. Alabama requires a copy of your lease and an up to date MC 150 form (can be downloaded, just do a Google search). Brown will supply you a copy of their 150 form.

You will have to obtain a personal DOT number. That can be done on line at no cost.

Brown takes care of all your IFTA requirements.

Hope this helps. I run out of Brown's Athens, Alabama terminal.

Does anyone have any info on there fuel surcharge? I know its 100% to the O/O. I'm looking for a ball park per mile figure since fuel is about $4/gal in mid TN now.

With Brown it varies by load, there is no consistency to it whatsoever.
