Roehl is huge on safety, they were ranked #1 in safety by the ATA in 2008 if I recall, and they have very strict rules when you work for them and if you play by their rules and keep your nose clean then you will do fine with them but one mistake on your part and you're terminated immediately. Roehl doesn't tolerate the cowboy trucker of yester-year, that ##### doesn't fly with them. They want professional drivers managing their truck with their customer's load done professionaly.

Have you driven yet, after learning how to double clutch may change your mind about trucking :biggrin_2559:

The upshifting isn't hard, its the $#!* downshifting:biggrin_2559: But after a while it's like breathing, you don't have to think about it.

I came to Roehl as an experienced driver and have always float shifted. During orientation we had a debate over whether double clutching or float shifting was more fuel efficient, but that was it. Even when I took the driving test I floated the gears and nothing was said. They do want their trainers to teach everyone to double clutch, so I guess I won't be a trainer anytime soon.

You need to be able to double clutch and do a blind alley 45% back with no pullups for the cdl test. In the real world the only problem with pullups are all the other drivers getting annoyed at waiting for you to get into your dock or parking space. They'll get over it.

When you let other drivers intimidate you that's when they're driving your truck. That's your truck and you should only be the only one driving it. :yes2557: F them is what I say, they can wait.

Pennsy- you are absolutely right. If I could give a new driver some advice it would be learn to listen to experienced drivers who are a real help and ignore the jerks. Even now there are times a spotter is a big help, I've learned to get a thick skin and ignore the idiots. Even if I have it under control, no need to get insulted and be a jerk with someone just trying to help. Just let them do their thing while you do yours. Once into the spot, thank them for their help and move on. There are some truck stops that I have been in that are so tight drivers go from truck to truck helping drivers get into spots.
