He won’t try and spec trucks over the phone. I guess he wants people there looking at the screen to make sure everything is covered. I know my friend is taking panels that were test painted as well as his stripe design with him on the plane. Other than that I can’t tell you why. He just likes people go sit and his desk for a few hours and make sure nothing is missed.Blue jeans, Siinman, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this.

There was a time when the dealer would give you access to the order program. So many little things(and big)that many sales people don't know about.Blue jeans, larry2903, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this.

Well, on my western stars and previous trucks. Average idle time has been less than 5%. That equates to less maintenance, less emissions problems, less wear on main engine. and less fuel. Figure my apu’s have paid for themselves in less than 3 years. Now I am very proactive on maintenance.
3 years 5k hours on apu. Has cost me $369.72 in maintenance. Doing it myself.
can’t quantify the savings on wear and tear on my trucks main engines and emissions. I am a little usual I admit. I don’t run apu for heat until it gets to around zero outside.
Spendy upfront cost but they do pay for themselves over time. If dealer wouldn’t of given such a good price for trade it. I would of kept current Apu. $3500.00 to transfer to a new truck. So you could buy it and transfer to a new truck. I have done that as well. I had a carrier that was on 3 different trucks and had close to 24k hours on it. it more than paid for itself.D.Tibbitt, Siinman, Midwest Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't idle that much. I have a espar for winter and I put my screens in the summer. The only time I idle is on my reset and when it gets stupid cold out. By the time I stop at night, it's cool enough just to put my screens in. I park in the back where the fat drivers don't go, so I usually get a good breeze. So I fail to see how the upfront cost of $12k plus operating expense and maintenance pans out to any savings for me.D.Tibbitt, Siinman, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

I know of one company that bought a bunch of old containers so that they could use about 15 of their storage trailers that are 20 years old. They refurbished them and put them back in service. They couldn’t buy a dry van anywhere in Canada that wasn’t going to cost double the value.

Another thing I’m curious about . Will banks start repossession on equipment from guys that are behind now that they can recoup all their money easier than last year …
shooter19802003 Thanks this. -
Well.....Dealer called today, price will be going up another $5K. And slots are opening up, and might be able to get it as soon as the second quarter, now.
things that make you go “hmmmmmm”. -
That is consistent with my dealer. I told him that if any Cummins slots open up let’s change mine to those. I also said if additional slots open let’s move from 2 trucks to 4 trucks. He said he doubted any would open up but if they did we should be able to get 2 Cummins spots to go with the 2 Paccar spots.
Time will tell. If we all thought things were in flux before, I’d say they really are now.Blue jeans, Rideandrepair, shooter19802003 and 4 others Thank this.
