20 eastbound shut down 4 hour's near longview..

Chemult is a decent place to stop midway through. It's all good smooth and straight road, just typical high desert ice and small town speed zones to watch for. Oh and the occasional elk...
-
Thank you. We'll be heading up that way after we load tomorrow.
-
I've only ever seen one elk. That son of a gun scared the crap out of me. Middle of the night I'm running about 75 mph, out of nowhere he was standing on the shoulder with his head over the fog line. Had that "come get you some" look in his eye... man that spooked me.

Yes Sir you did lol. Going south that store is on the right at the top, course gotta make that uphill curve before ya get there lol.
Just past that store about 150 feet is doss ridge to the right. I have a customer out there. I haul Lizard Trucks (articulating dumps) and other heavy equipment in and out of there….DeereRunner97, Flint1, dwells40 and 9 others Thank this. -
That’s what cousin naughty use to say, that comment proved to be incorrect one night long ago. Sadly I was the chauffeur taking “them” to her place…. -
between bend and biggs junction is always icey if its snowing out .
-
You'll save some on fuel tax by jumping across the river at Biggs Junction and running 14 in Washington if you're headed north. I try to limit Oregon miles as much as possible.

97 has always been one of my favorite routes.
Gordy's Truck Stop in La Pine isn't a bad place to stop if you need a break. Never ran into any issues with getting a place to park.
