i recently started a new mc and i am trying to figure out how i do my first pre employment drug test.
i went to quest today and ordered a regular drug test by mistake i paid 100$ and could not clarify if it was good for FMCSA apparently it was not according to the fine print.
my question is how do i set up a pre employment drug test with Quest. is there an easier way to do this because quest wants me to sign up and open an acct with them

As an owner operator you must be enrolled in a consortium, which is what Quest was likely trying to sign you up for. You can't just decide to go take a pre-employment or random test anywhere you choose to without a contract with their program.
For owner operators there are plenty of choices including CMCI which is run by OOIDA. Their program is reasonable and compliant, plus you will get support thru your OOIDA membership with other compliance questions.

oh now i understand when i signed up with drug clearing house website i chose quest as my drug tester, i guess i chose them as my consortium. i thought it would be the place where i would be drug tested since as an employee i got tested there 1000 times. do you know how much quest would charge? they want to set up an account and are already setting this up as a sales opportunity. thank you for the reply

Just google drug consortium, find one with good reviews, sign up with them, they will send you for a whiz quiz and you will be on your way. Make sure you update FMCSA clearinghouse with who you pick as a drug consortium. They will handle your ramdoms etc.
Mine charges like $65 a year to manage mine.
American Drug Consortium is who I use. I think OOIDA does it as well. There are a ton out there so research and pick one with good reviews.Siinman Thanks this. -
