Reminds me of a time years ago I confronted a manager about "Companies Core Values, and Respect for the individual" said asi was pointing to the large mural of "Mr Sam" on Wall and said what would he think of this. I kid you not, with a straight face I was told " Sam has been dead for 20+ years

If there had been no announcement at the end of last year that a fleet wide raise was forthcoming..no "we love all the fleet drivers, and we're so appreciative"...no talk of the biggest raise in WM history incoming...just regular business as usual...chance are, none of this recent discussion would be taking place. Even without the massive 1 penny raise, most fleet drivers were making a wage greater than 95% of every other driver on the road. So what's the issue then? The issue in my eyes is you don't sugar coat a plate of poo and pass it off as cherry pie. If WM's intention all along was to claim the massive raise (which nearly every driver assumed would be for every driver) was a reward for our hard work and dedication, then why structure the highest raises around the DC's that are struggling to fill out their staffing needs? Why not tell every fleet driver "everyone of you is getting a penny raise, and some of you may get a higher raise if you're working out of understaffed regions". Instead, they said that WM was handing out it's largest raise for drivers in it's history (which on paper, may be true)...but smoke screened the fact that that huge raise wasn't going to every driver. Add in the fact, that due to overlapping DC coverage, some drivers are going to be making considerably more than their fellow drivers hauling the same freight out of the same DC. That's textbook 101 on how to piss off a good portion of your workforce.

So where does WM go from here? Well a start would be equal pay across the entire fleet. Although I still feel that drivers working and living in areas of the country with a much higher cost of living should be paid a small cost of living bump, I think that the base fleet pay should be the same for everyone. If they want to dangle a carrot to entice more drivers to transfer or apply at short staffed DC's, then either raise the recruitment bonus for those DC's, or offer some other awesome incentive for current fleet drivers to transfer to those DC's. Don't shoot one foot to make the other foot happy.

So we'll see what WM does next. We'll see what Mr. 4 months on job comes up with. As my mother was so fond of saying...some people have more brains than sense. Never has a statement been truer than in this case.

Yeah, that's the way it's been ever since I started.

I don't remember what the 3 year bump is, but you get a whopping $0.0025 bump at 10, then a stunning $0.005 at 15 where you stay for the rest of your time here.

    truckdriver31 Thanks this.

Just checked my pay for Saturday, i got the increase from activity pay but i did not get the extra 7 cent`s weekend mileage pay.
My weekly mileage pay is .515 so my weekend should be .585, i did not receive the extra 7 cpm.

The weekend pay is shown on the paystub as a separate line item. Also, you do know that you have to work both Saturday and Sunday to get the extra 7 CPM, right?

If you worked both days and there's no weekend mileage on the separate line item, then you need talk with someone to get it fixed.

I hope you get it squared away.

We all need to watch our pay pretty closely, especially now when they're screwing around with it. Make sure they're paying you literally every PENNY.

    Me too.

I'm guessing that they're thinking all the issues will go away with time. So, they're gonna wait us out. I'm sure they think that we'll see that our checks are a little larger, and we'll stop complaining. They clearly don't know people like me!

We need to keep bringing it up and let them know that we're still pissed. I bring it up in EVERY conversation I've had with any level of manager. Regardless of the topic of conversation, I work it in there somehow every time.
