I am looking to team with my uncle at Werner when I get my cdl. But I'm having a very hard time finding a school that werner approves of and one I can get a student loan for. I'm living in bradshaw WV, and the closest schools are 2-3hours away. I found one that looks good PIA in dunbar that is approved by Werner. But can't find out any info about student loans with it being the weekend.

Being in WV is what's making it difficult. Maybe find a CDL school approved by Werner in Pennsylvania and find a cheap hotel apartment, one that lets you pay by the week. You may get off cheap and only pay $400 per month for room and board. HTH.
edit: See if Werner will accept Roehl Transport School, they're in WI, the school is only 3 weeks and they hook you up with a nice deluxe hotel for a good price. Their tution is $2800 plus misc fees. Drive with Roehl for a year and they'll pay for your schooling, then go to Werner to work with you uncle. -
The school I went to has housing options for students.
Keystone Diesel Institute, butler PA.
worth checking out, they have loan options too, they darn near finance anyone, from what I could tell. -
My brother lives in Kansas City, MO. What about RoadMasters, From the website I can see they are approved by Werner.

If you can get into roadmaster, that would be a good choice. Also google sage schools they offer one on one training but don't know if they are werner approved.

Why not go to school in Nebraska at Werner? -
The only reason i say to beware of the dmv form you fill out, is due to my circumstances. I had been laid off from work as a machinist for a year when I enrolled. My wife and I had burned up all of our savings just to keep our head above water with all the bills. We had to declare bankruptcy. Now, when talking to our lawyer, he said that you could not declare on a school loan, which is what i thought I had. After giving him a List of all of our debtors, he said that the finance company they use is not a valid school loan. He had said after seeing the paperwork on it, it was a "Retail Installment Agreement" and that it did not qualify as a student loan. He added it on the list of debts to be contested for our bankruptcy after me arguing with him telling him that it was a student loan. Our hearing was in Nov. 2009 and the creditors had 60 days after the hearing to contest it. Nothing from the finance company for my schooling, it was discharged in jan. of this year. The Trustee who heard our case looked at the loan agreement said there is nothing in the contract stating my cdl was being used for collateral. She said that it it looked like blackmail.
I had held off looking for work during the winter months just for safety reasons for both myself and everyone else on the road. About 2 weeks ago, i started looking for work as a driver again. I went and took the test for my hazmat endorsement on 03/18/2010. The following saturday(03/20/2010) I received a letter from Keystone. It had stated that I could get new terms for my loan (which is null and void after the bankruptcy) due to my current loan status. I needed to take care of this immediately before I got turned into collections. I had thought my license was safe due to the laws protecting me from the bankruptcy, now I'm not so sure.
As far as the school, I really don't have complaints. They are not a "3rd Party Testing Facility". They prep you to take the tests at a PA DMV testing location. You are not promised a license, but they will work with you until you pass. My first time out testing for my license, i had passed everything but the parallel park. when we went to test again, all i had to do was that.
The Instructors are knowledable, and have some good "horror stories" from the road to help you get into the right mindset. There are a few that are characters and make it alot of fun.
Hope this helps.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
good luck to you as far as student loans just be careful and make sure you read them and the small print Werner should be able to give you list of schools they recurit from an then talk to schools they will do your loan paper work
