It is a violation 393.75a and it is out of service. I understand that things happen, screw, bolt or nail. But I see so many tires that are under inflated. By under inflated I mean, 20 or 30 psi in the tire. Wonder why you have a blow out?

How far is it that you're seeing the driver dragging a flat?

Maybe he/she is trying to get to a safe place to pull over and it's just a bit up the road.

This past week we had to repower a load from a driver who pulled over immediately. I mean..............at the place he knew it was flat. Sounds great right?

wrong. He pulled over on a narrow shoulder that slanted drastically and had put his right wheels in soft dirt that was the edge of the entire shoulder. There was a deep ditch next to it.

He then proceeded to drop the trailer and pull forward to wait for the service truck and for us to get there and repower.

He could have driven 500 ft more and had a wider shoulder. He could have driver about .25 mile and had a very wide shoulder. Heck he could have driven at 5mph on that supersingle for the 5 miles to the freaking customer.

    But he squated and dropped.

And the trailer almost slid into the ditch. The wrecker who had to be called to push the trailer back so I could get hooked said "I'd like to meet the driver who dropped this trailer and punch him in the mouth".

Maybe just maybe it's not always wise to drop immediately.

Unless my truck quits running altogether, I roll to the next ramp. I do NOT stop along side the road for any reason other than a dead truck. (Almost got hit by a sleepy gasoline tanker once)

I will drive it kicking and screaming to the next ramp if I have to.

As a side note... did anyone happen to run up on the dumb$%## that parked his truck in the center lane on I-75 just north of the scales in Wildwood last Wednesday morning? I am really surprised no one was killed. The fact that it was dark really made it hard to determine if the truck was on the shoulder or in the lane.

Not only was he not smart enough to get it to the side of the road before it quit rolling, the rocket scientist was standing alongside the road even with the truck as I hit the shoulder to avoid the tractor which was partially in the right lane. :biggrin_25526:
