They make ear protection for that if your ears are that sensitive.

Big problem right now is finding an APU is virtually impossible.
Guaranteed with the high fuel prices you have a high demand right now but as soon as they drop everybody goes to idling that doesn't have an APU and forgets the topic. Lol ....
A lot of this is delayed effect because somewhat recently we had cheap fuel under the prior administration and the market hasn't caught up buying anti-idling devices to combat the five and $6 gallon fuel from the war on oil being waged on the USA.

I heard idling is bad on bearings too. I’m scared to idle my truck especially it’s an older engine that’s why I run my truck in the cool months it easier to stay warm then keeping cool in summer

I ran my 35 year old engine 3 days straight this week, never shut it off one time. Idled 2 nights straight, and stayed comfortable the whole time.

Years ago we ran trucks that were built in the 60’s and 70’s, I idled the 78 W900A many times in Connecticut with snow on the ground, idled the same truck in Savanna when it was dead summer time.

Keep in mind we idled the engine up by using a steel rod with a sliding spring clip that hooked up under the dash, didn’t have no CC buttons on the dash like today….

Wait you didn't have the kysor pull knob? CC and hi idle all in one? Worked good, till it didn't. Or you rolled over in the bunk on air ride and the engine got excited.
