Problems with Samsara changing duty status

I have a 2021 KW 680 with an automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission are Paccar.

My company uses Samsara ELD app, and I've never had any problems with it until they gave me a new tablet to use. Any time I want to change my duty status, I have to wait a full minute or it will put me back on the previous duty.

What's worse is that if I'm off duty in a bobtail, and I use PC, and I forget to wait a minute after I stop to go back off duty, it doesn't put me back on PC–it puts me on Drive. This is driving me nuts. Anybody know what the problem could be?

 

I’ve used samsara and didn’t like it much. I used my phone and didn’t have a tablet in the truck tho .....

Sounds like software to me ......

 

Agree with @Cat sdp I used Samsara at a previous job and it was a joke to try to use it on the tablet. That lasted all of 1 night before I asked if I could just get the app on my phone. I did linehaul, 1/2 way to St. Louis it just straight up logged me out. I got it edited and squared back away. 1/2 way back to KC it put me in moving violation. Got that squared away upon arrival. The next day I was told I was running all night under some city driver dudes name from a terminal I’ve never even been to much less met. So long story short, I wish I had more than 2 hands to give the samsara tablet more thumbs down.

I use Samsara I like it never had a issue with loot better then Ommnitracs

 

New driver here. 2nd week out and I can confirm samsara is automatically switching to driving when you are clearly in PC. I usually PC from my drop over to the loves 1.6 miles away so I can get some food and shut down for my 10. Logs show 2 minutes driving 4 hrs into my 10hr break. Totally screwing me. 5 times this has happened in the past 2 weeks. It's bad enough trying to obey all of the rules and regs but to have your eld constantly violate you is just added unnecessary stress. I went in and some how it let me change the 2 minutes drive error and allowed me my drive time back I get back to the terminal and yep it's back and showing violations. Talk about a bipolar system ! Keep trucking allowed for drivers to edit and make corrections if needed when I was in school which made sense. Samsara on the other hand seems to be putting truckers at the kiddy table with zero rights to our time and logs. - FL Tanker Yanker

 

If keep trickin let you edit drive time it isn't a legal ELD

 

My big list of bugs in Samsara Android App. Latest version

1. Combines On Duty and counts it towards 30min break; You'll fail an 8 day inspection if you don't edit in or remember to take a 30min; it resets your 8 with On Duty combined
2. Keyboard bug if you go to edit non-blank Remarks
3. Randomly shows wrong data on circular graphs. You have to log back in
4. Randomly messes up a days log till you log back in when editing; not always
5. Company doesn't even see Docs sent, and Routes only partial data; could just be my company
6. Random non-heat related crashes to Android home screen
7. Huge delays when doing any action sometimes; I'm on a 2021 Galaxy Tablet

All of these bugs were directly reported to their support team half a year ago, and they did nothing or couldn't fix them

FYI I can edit everything but Drive. Sometimes you have to use the time edit top right instead of position based. Should be version 2220.100.9435(under gear icon on main screen) or newer. It may have enterprise level lockout

 

I'm with a company that switch to Samsara from the keep trucking (motive) app... What a big mistake....
Samsara is a very slow app, it makes my Android phone drag and freeze up multiple times in a day, this is the worst ELD I've ever used, but the companies don't seem to like driver feedback on anything so we are forced to use these garbage apps....
I will be glad when the economy turns around cuz I'm going to run on my own authority again and say piss on company driving.
