About three months ago I was having issues with no heat coming from the dash but will go everywhere else. Change the actuator and it’s been working fine every since. I got up this morning, and it was kind of cool out 40° started the truck let it warm up and turn the heat on. Ice cold air. Turn the defrosters on, same thing. Absolutely no heat. Check the lines going to the core, and both are warm as it should be. Figured it must be an actuator again. Going down the road to get home now my fan blower comes on runs for a minute and then turns off. I do not have it on automatic. So now I’m starting to think it is not the actuator it is the actual controller panel on my dash. But I’m not sure. I don’t want to be spending $700 on something just to find out that’s not what’s wrong. Anyone else have this issue? It’s a 2015 Peterbilt 579. Right now when I turn it on again still only getting cold air but the fan is blowing I could change the positions of where I want the air to go and it goes there. But it’s just cold. About five minutes, the fan shut off. Now I have no air moving. But it’ll come back on in about five or 10 minutes.

Not sure about a Pete. I’ve had similar problems with W900s from blend doors broken in the heater box. Could be a servo or control problem, but a blend door physically broken and flapping around in there can do much the same thing.

If the fan turn on and off it means there is a faulty actuator/ broken door.
System keeps trying to relearn itself and turning the blower off but cant due to faulty door/actuator.
Anyone with ESA can see what door isnt calibrating then replace actuator/door.

After taking the actuator out to check it, found that the blend door had stripped out where the actuator mounts. 80$ part, 3000$ labor to change. Can’t get it in for 4-6 weeks. If it wasn’t for needing defrost in the rain I could live with it for a while. No way to rig it up for manual heat change that I can tell. Unless someone has a way to rig it, I have to run it with no way to defrost.
