I don't remember exactly where, I think it's near Chilicothe. It's on a hill on the south side. Or was.

Sounds like you ran into a couple of Murphy's laws- if you are over on an axle, and spend a lot of time trying to get it right because you have to go across scales, sure enough, those scales will be closed when you get there. Also, if you have something valuable on you near a pit or auger, it will find a way into them.

Hope your luck gets better. If things started out too easy, you'd be spoiled! :biggrin_25519:

I loaded south of Tyler, TX Friday going to Muskogee, OK and I was low on fuel and my gross was 79,800 when I left. I drove 100 miles and needed fuel so I put 100 gallons and still had one scale to cross but it is sometimes closed and if it was open the old guy that runs it usually is taking a nap and lets you roll across the scales. Well I get their and look into the scale house and it is a young OCC officer and he stops me on the scales and then does my axles then has me park and come in.

He is writing a ticket to a reefer driver for being over on his trailer so I know I am in bad shape. Well he gets to me and says driver you are 80,440lbs gross and 1300lbs over on your drives. I said that can't be here is my scale ticket where I loaded and he said well their scales must be off. I am acting real innocent and shocked so he ask me if I got fuel after loading and I told a little white lie and then he said I will let you go but you need to call your customer and tell them their scales are off because we just had ours caliberated. Talk about my lucky day.

It's getting worse. Seems the closest place to wash is 95 miles away. Decent pay is turning bad in a hurry.

Will know to plan better next time. Will know where and hours of the washout before I pickup.

We're busy Dairyman thank goodness. I'm getting most of the hauling this year cuz their other driver got another job with a local hopper outfit. They've got 1 parttime guy but he does closet work too so he's gone alot when he's got a closet job. I guess house building is picking up in Jonesboro. Riceland is open today so I'm bout to get started. No preload today or I would've left at 5:30. It's all good for now and I'm loving the weather.
