They, his two kids had already moved onto his house. After verifing with the attorney they had no legal right to be there, I called the Sheriff (a mutual friend) and had them removed. Only to discover they were attempting to take his property out of the house. And they had decided his car was theirs as well. They were arrested for criminal trespass, grand theft auto and a couple other charges that will keep them in jail until the hearing today. The Sheriff called a locksmith friend of his to change all the locks and install cameras inside and out. The attorney has those keys and the app on his phone that will alert him if someone is on the property.
They think they are owed and are self righteous in their actions. It amazes me. The attorney will enter the house today in hopes of finding a more recent will that stipulates his last requests in a more pointed manner. What a mess.

 

Another benefit of living in a smaller community and knowing (and caring about) your neighbors. It is funny how some family members will completely shut someone out of their life and then at the end of said persons life they expect they are entitled to whatever is left behind.
