Depends on where you're delivering or picking up.
You learn time management and will then know how many hours it takes to get to the destination. -
On average? About 9.25 per day. Varies from load to load. But if you have hours, it isn’t “per day” so much. You drive, take a 10, drive again. Until you run on recaps, then it’s “per day”

Depends on if you run over the road, local, regional. I usually do no more than eight myself.

Are you procrastinating on becoming a trucker?
Some have been on here for years and still haven't started cdl school.aussiejosh, snowmantrucking101 and tscottme Thank this. -
Regulations are not based on a 24 hour day, but the max you can drive in a day before you need 10 hours sleeper/off-duty is 11 hours. Ideally companies try to make maximum efficiency of the truck and driver and may expect a driver to average 10 hours per day. The regulations llimit driving/work time to 70 hours in 8 days.

It ain't so much a question of how many hours I drive, more like miles. I like to keep it in the 500ish or less range daily. I'll drive more if need be. I like to pace myself. If you drive for a company that will squeeze your clock til it farts, you better learn to pace yourself. Sometimes you'll end up on recaps and you'll have to somewhatook ahead so you'll keep getting hours back in the event you can't reset. Once you start driving, you'll learn all about hours of service.
