Cat 3406e Weak Engine Brake

I honestly could not tell you since I've had both my savers for 30 years .. but I saw a used 1 on the Peterbilt .KW Facebook page couple mouths ago they were asking 3500. Which I thought was reasonable.. if I was to guess if you went to Cat and bought it new through parts .. wild guess 8000k or north of it .. but that is just a wild guess

 

Oil pan shorter, driveline...........it would be a bit of a project to add.

 

I put 1 I had on the 359 Iam driving now .Back in 1997 when I bought the truck ..like you said it's a bit of a project and I had everything I needed except the drive shaft but it seems like it still cost me about 5 or 700. Just in little stuff like gaskets and airlines & maybe that was also the cost to shorten my drive shaft I don't remember excatly I know the hand valve that goes in the cab you can't hardly get anymore and used 1 if you have or find 1 are bring 1000 to 1200k..

 

If you have a Brakesaver, I’ll bet you have a diaphragm and a bag full of 5K5959 o-rings in your glovebox.

 

I've never changed them without dumping the oil, but I guess you could couldn't you? Only loose the oil in the valve area?

 

I got half a dozen diaphragms& couple bags of O rings in the parts shelf draw and I keep 1 in the tool box in each truck and a few O rings .. too

 

Had to have a fair stock of o-rings on hand for the V8’s. When you see them parked the anti-freeze on the ground at the front is the 5K5959’s on the thermostat housings drooling, and the oil at the back is from the 2 in the Brakesaver control valve. Changed those on the semi-regular with both that I had.
