the training was excellent just make sure you and your trainer can get along lol. They give you a 38 question test and a 15 minute driving test with some tight corners. I didn't think they were that bad. Also you have to do a 45 degree back, straight line back and close corder turns on the range. As long as you don't hit anything or the instructor tells you to stop then you will pass your test. I got my truck 3825 i'm spending the weekend with my dad then heading out on monday. I hope this was helpful to everyone. As long as you take your time and listen to your trainers you'll do fine. Have a great weekend everyone!![]()

So you didn't have to do the blind side back between two of the trailers?
Hmmmm. -
I think you got screwed on that one since especially Roehl preaches not to blind side. But then again they tell you not to back off a highway to get into a customer yet, they sent me on a load to Fl. and the only way to get into the lot to the dock was to back off a 4 lane highway. Here I am backing in the turn lane then block off the entire road while backing into the lot. Then around the building thru a narrow gate with woods in front of the truck and a dumpster on the right. Not giving much maneuvering space. Not to worry, I didn't get a cigarette either.mycorky Thanks this.

Would you've given thought about calling the local police for assistance with the traffic on the four lane before putting your truck perpendicular to the road, that's literally a U-turn, I don't know, just asking? You're paying their salary so why not use them?Last edited: Jan 15, 2010

Assistance doesn't always help like you want it to. I once got an elderly and very dignified employee at a customer's to stop traffic while I straight-lined from a fenced lot across a narrow two-lane into the customer's fenced lot. The back of the trailer was inside his fence before I got far enough back to see the road outside of the fenced yard I was leaving. Afterwards, he told me that a woman had almost hit him while he was flagging down traffic:
"She said she thought I was a rock."
"You don't look like a rock to me."
"I think she was foreign."
Go figure. -
I had two employees stop traffic on both sides. Some police depts are not very helpful. Ever get lost and call the locals just for them to tell you they can't help you. Once because of crappy directions I turned the wrong way. I called the locals and told them what was up and that I needed to turn around and were could I go to safely turn. They wouldn't help me. Wouldn't send anyone out either. So I prayed and went down the road until I found a shopping center to turn around in. It was night and the stores closed so I didn't have to worry about cars zipping in and out. Don't count on the police to be very helpful.

I delivered at 3 home depots that I had to blind side back into. I got out and looked about 10 times each time I backed. Once I was straight I just backed it in. It's better to look and keep your job.
