If it was warm enough, you could have just hosed them off and called it good to go.

Lol, never got that stuff down in Texas. Got rain gear, coveralls, button up shirts and jeans. However, all of it was theirs except the rain gear and one pair of coveralls. Most of the guys just went commando under their coveralls. Because it hot as all get out in west texas in the summer!

Amen to that. Hope they don't give me the "you've been off too long and the insurance doesn't want to cover you" spiel after I go through all the hassle again. Hate to have to go to Swift again, just to get back on the road. :(

Prep work, I can do well...the rest is, well....practice. :) Doing is learning.

Machine power, yes, I'm very happy with this machine's capabilities. It's not like I'm going to be doing 1/2" thick steel plate...yet...but it's enough with a variety of abilities to keep one busy without going broke trying to learn/relearn and practice..even though it was a hefty initial cost, it should be of sufficient power, capability and variety to last me long enough to get addicted to it. :)

Keep in mind, that a 1/2" thick steel plate that you grind a bevel in, and fill with multiple passes... Or a 1/2" thick plate, that you leave a gap in.. or 3/4", or 1" or... welds like a much thinner plate. Your only limiting factor, that would be a bit of a nuisance, for welding thicker plate... Is the low Duty Cycle.

I just mention that because I get the feeling you think the machine may not be capable (but with your 'yet', maybe you're aware). It wasn't that terribly long ago, that many welding shops, only had 200 Amp machines.

    Have fun practicing!

I actually do. From my crane operator days. We used to put cell towers up in the middle of power line towers.

Same with hard hats when we were erecting cranes and putting the counter weights on…I guess it would make clean up easier if you got squished!:D
