A buddy of mine didn't know the nishnabotna was a real river. I took a pic the sign as you go over it by Avoca. My buddy was in awe.....lol.

He had a lot of good stuff.

 

Close enough for horseshoes. Yeah, all the vendors I've been to for pickup and/or delivery, but I'm expanding it to include places I haven't been yet, gleaned from the company's websites. Their locations are listed in different ways, so extracting them from the sites, formatting them for importing into the database (adding missing fields) and then cleaning it up so they're free of anomalies. (like removing the dashes between phone numbers if they have them, etc) So a little of both. Getting my stuff together and needing to work on your translations.

 

Update
The daughter was removed from the county jail clinic and taken to the local hospital where she is in ICU with COVID.
Her brother tested negative for COVID.

 

Decided after taking a week off from the gym I'd head back in today. Parking lot's full. Screw that I'll go home and come back later when I don't have to wait around for equipment to become available. Go in, hit it hard for 90 minutes and then go home.

 

I thought you had a home gym now?

 

Nah. Just some dumbbells and a barbell. I'm going to build one when I buy a place.

 

His cassette was one of a few I had in the 1981 Cabover Freightliner, then transferred to the 1976 352 Patriot, and the 77 Shaker with the KT I drove when my daughter was born in 88. Johnny Cash, Waylon, Boxcar Willie, and Gene Tracy were amongst my small collection as well….

Yup. Another time, you'll go out and everything clicks. The weather is good, all the machinery works right, the fish are schooling, and your biggest problem is not getting greedy and pull so many aboard that your boat sinks. You get to the dock and find that nobody has unloaded in a few days and they're down on stock. That means a better check, sometimes. Those days almost make up for the bad ones. Almost.
The average age for a commercial fisherman in our area is 53. Younger guys just aren't interested in working so hard for a payday that might not be there. Getting and keeping a good crew is almost impossible. Sound familiar?
My cousins still fish but they're both in their late 60s and don't know how to do anything else. They both have good boats that are paid for. It used to be that fathers taught sons the business and passed the boat down when they retired. None of their kids are interested. They went to college and have good careers instead. They'll come down and help out with net work or unloading but they see the business for what it is. I thought about staying with it when I was a kid but I already understood about working for nothing and not having any control over income.
I miss that ocean sometimes. And fishing. You have to love it because it will break your heart.
