The van side is hard to get good pay, but I run NYC/NJ mostly and I'm averaging around $1900 gross this year. Just need to keep working.

They go all over, and I've gone all over. The regular routes are fine, and pay decently, but the highest pay is for the areas people don't want to go, just like everywhere else.

I’ve seen pictures and video of getting trucks into some of the cemeteries...looks nuts. Way more skill than I have yet lol

The cemetery deliveries are mostly high value mausoleums that they don't give to the newbies. I won't lie and say it's easy, but it's just the same as anything else in driving. You take your time and make sure you're not going to hit anything. If you think you're close, or aren't sure, you can get out every 2 feet or less.

The ones that want to act like as* holes scratch off the list. CRST, PTL, Butler don't mind it at all.

There is nothing wrong with getting experience at Western Express. I wish folks would cool it with the "they hire ex-felons" talk. Western Express is not the only company that hires ex-felons. Dozens of companies, even reputable ones(shocker!) hire them too. Northeast is touch to navigate at times but if you're going to be working Lowe's stores, then you'll always have somewhere to take a break. I got my experience there on the flatbed side. It's just somewhere to get started. Instead of 6 months, try to make it 1 year. That way, you'll have the entire industry open to you, instead of just a handful more of desperate companies. If you can learn to navigate the Northeast, then the rest of the country will be a piece of cake to you once you move one somewhere else.

a theory I have is that part of the reputation comes because they hire second (or third) chance people, then when those people screw up—again—they flood youtube and forums with anti company chatter. I’m not saying they’re the best company at all, merely that there’s at least 2 sides to everything.

I don’t mind saying that the smaller more congested spaces in the NE bother me as a new driver though. I dislike Boston in my personal vehicle let alone a truck.

I agree with that theory, but many of those people will probably have issues with other companies too. For me, Western Express was not bad. I was on the flatbed side though. It wasn't my best job, but it was far the worst job I've ever had, with or without a CDL. No matter where you work, you get what you put in. I think some drivers just have an inability to make anything work, and they have poor attitudes.

It does bother me too. If I have my choice, I most likely won't ever choose to run into New England. My company will never know my personal feelings about certain shippers/receivers or certain regions of the country. I never want to give even the slightest perception of being a malcontent. Plus, I'm pretty sure every company is aware that all drivers hate the Northeast. As long as I get paid, I don't give a #### where they send me

Some people never believe pay claims, so I figured I'd finally post mine. New year started kind of light, but it's picking back up.
