Unless you are driving your tractor and trailer on the water, a FLARE GUN, IS NOT A RECOGNIZED EMERGENCY DEVICE BY THE FMCSA. SO IF YOU WANT TROUBLE WITH THE STATE POLICY, LEAVE THOSE FLARE GUNS IN YOUR BOAT..

So your saying he would be in trouble for having a flare gun in his truck? Exactly what law would that be breaking? Or would it just be harassment?

WOW!!! This thread is almost 3 years long!!! I haven't read all of it but have read a very large portion of it...And a question still remains....

Is it legal to have Pepper Spray or Mace in a CMV???
What about Tasers or Stun Guns???

I used to sell this stuff and the only regs. I know of are no Airports,Courthouses ect......

I think you missed the post where the one gentleman was stating what the rules were for Illinios..I believe when he contacted the proper authorities, they told him he couldnt get a non resident carry permit, and to travel through the state carrying a gun in a cmv,it had to be disassembled..Its back atleast 5 pages...

It is only illegal if you get caught......One thing you can do is bolt a lock box with combo lock to the floor. If you see your about to get checked throw the gun into the box and lock it.....forget the combo....they cannot break open the box without a warrent......

Nope I read it, I have a tendecy not to base my life choices on hearsay. Now that's not saying that law is not on the books in Illinois. But as you pointed out in an earlier post most truck drivers are not a truthfull bunch. Only time I visit Illinois is not in a CMV, it's during deer season. Neither my 870 Remington or TC are disassembled & the 1911 is in the center console ####ed & locked as always.

Wasn't stoped this year, but have been stopped several times before. But their main concern has not been weapons, but making sure everyone in the truck has a hunting license & the proper tags for any animal we happen to have in our possesion. Trust me. if you ride around Pike county during deer season with an out of state tag they will check you.

I will do some looking into Illinois gun laws, Not that I really care though.

You can try wasp spray -shoots about 40ft.

Antique firearms over 100yrs old. -Not considered guns. Many fine revolvers out there and rifles.

Watch just how fast a little packet of white powder, or something appears in your truck. CAUSE FOR SEARCH! Be very careful. Everything I know says no transport across state lines without knowing and complying with each states laws. The Feds get involved in it then and at the very least it's gonna cost you a bundle. you are correct Illinois and Wisconsin neather one have a conceal carry permit either profesional or non professional. a good place to look for information is here. there you can put in the information on where you may have a permit for and see what other state will let it be used there.
